Default The Day the Earth Stood Still

Do you know what, I liked this film. I am normally the first to mock remakes of classics but I have to say that this is a good job. They didn't try to remake the original but make thier own version of it. Keanu was just like Neo and thankfully his character didn't have to really say much so he didnt bring the movie down.

Couple of faces you will recognise from 24 and Prison Break (and Will Smith's son) so all in all a good viewing.

Note: having not read the origional short story it may be that this version is more true to the that than the 1950 version.

I watched just over half of this tripe, I wasn't expecting much and I wasn't disappointed. The original film is a classic and Keanu Reeves is a dork so it was doomed!
I did read the original (many, many years ago!) and neither is particularly close but the 1951 version is closer. I won't rate this as I did not watch it all.

If you want to read the original short story it's here

I didnt really like it too much. Took too long to get into some kind of story, then it ended a bit crap.

Worth a watch if you got a spare £5, other then that I'd save your money lol.

absolute cack, a poor lament to the 1951 classic. Sfx and cgi brilliant, acting By Keanu piano Reeves at best wooden.

I give this a 6. It's not a bad movie - The "money shots" towards the end were not really necessary. Keanu was ok in it but he was meant to be emotionless (Something he does well).

There were some good ideas in it but ultimately Holywood ruined it by having to explain everything for the American audiences and those that don't really understand sci-fi.

I thought this wasn't bad, which was nice after switching it on quite sceptically, having read a number of really bad reviews for it.

Reeves was his usual self (I like Keanue Reeves), and the female lead did pretty well as the nervous/courageous heroine. Conversely, I wanted to smack the kid in the face - the whiny, annoying little brat.

Dire. One of the most boring films I've seen in a long time. Utterly forgettable.

The guy that made this is adapting a couple of my favourite books, Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion. I'm not holding out much hope to be honest.
