Router wont update

First of all i have a Belkin wireless g router (model f5d7632-4)

When i log into my router i get a message saying there is a more up to date firmware available. I click the link shown Download Firmware NOW (Version: 7.00.24)' and download the firmware to my desktop.


I then select update firmware and browse my computer, select the firmware on my desktop and click update. The router then does what it said it would do and disconnect from internet and reboot. So it should have updated but when i log back into my router it hasnt updated and is still using the firmware i was on before.

Any ideas what i am doing wrong?

Not really any help but i have a Belkin N router and it's pretty much the same story won't find firmware updates even though they're on the Belkin site and when i do it manually it's as though it's not overwritten the previous firmware (even though it goes through the update procedure) and all my settings are still there....Bag'o'shite.

Exactly the same and its pissing me off. What if that update we need is to fix a serious flaw or something? Noone know whats going wrong?

dont u have to go into the router its self and update it from there! or put the update on the root directory c:\[update]

Are you plugged into the router or wireless, wireless aint good for fw updates
Not sure if it'll help but this is what the update fw fixes...
The most important changes since the previous releases are:

• General improvements to functionaliy and stability
• A fix for MTU problems that could lead to certain websites being unavailable on PPPoE and PPPoA connections
• A fix for a problem that prevented the Nortel Contivity VPN client from connecting
• The option for a 1483 Bridged connection with a static IP address as used by some Swedish ISPs
• A fix for problems with some VoIP applications that use the SIP protocol
• Support for WMM Quality of Service
• The option to specify a custom port number for Remote Management
• Improvements to the Client IP filters
• Improvements to the Security log

Im plugged into my router so updating shouldnt be the pain in the arse that it has turned out to be.
