Default How reliable are MS with RROD repairs?

My replacement XBOX 360 from earlier this year, has died. I've decided not to take it to the shops for replacement as no doubt it will only last another 8-12 months.

This time I have opted for a repair from MS, and I am going through the procedure with UPS etc.

However I just thought I would do a poll, to see what the success rate is like, in terms of how many repairs go back again, and how long they usually last for. Or will repaired consoles last longer?

Please vote and let us know some of your experiences.

well i have 2 360s here, one has been repaired twice by then and is ok now. but that was in the early days, my other has broken down once, but has a new board in it for about a year now and doesnt even get hot. i think they have more or less solved the problems now ( touches alot of wood)
first repair lasted 3 months, the second repair on the first box is still going after a year and half altho its getting very hot again.

My 360 originally had an ms28 dvd drive, that failed 14mths after purchase, it would boot up but not read any disks, purchased another warranty and a repair from xbox customer service for 60 quidish.

Came back repaired with a benq dvd drive and apparently a new Motherboard (and a new case)

Currently failed after 4 months with a e72 e73 error.

Gonna flash orig firmware back and send back...........again!!

So in my experience, shorter than original xbox.

I got my brother in laws box back and it was fooked with 3 red light within 3 hours !! think that was the last of the uk repair center, had loads back for mates & family since and they have been ok.. apart from the on that died after 3 hours... thae replacement for that one went back just before xmas after 11 months.. which makes this his 4th...

A bit hit a miss, depends on who gets to look at your box and if they know there shit

Not had RRoD since myself, one console did do it once only a few months after getting it back but turn off turn on fixed it and been working for a month or two since.

Twincharge.. Not sure I understand your post.

Just in case you misunderstand. I am trying to find out if a repair generally lasts longer than a shop replacement. This is my first ever repair.

Sometimes they seem to last a long time and other times they last barely any time atall, it really is pot luck sometimes i think. My mate sent his back the other week and when returned it was still broken

Just got mine back. But the lazy buggers have just replaced it. How can I tell if it's a falcon chipset (or is it jasper? which ever one is supposedly going to resolve the heat issues). easily?

If it's not.. i bet it lasts another 8 months.

scratch that.. its another falcon chipset.. manufactured date is 2007. So I will only still get a year max out of it.

well this one is 2007, so its gonna have the same issues. The reason I sent it back was so they would actually repair it and hopefully do a good job.

Dropped mine to Console Wizard after a recommendation here and having a word with him.
Dropped it off yesterday about 11am, picking up today but he emailed me at about 4pm yesterday to say it was done.
Not got it yet but comes with 3mth warranty for £25 and sounds like a proper job on the website.

He has an InfraRed Cooker or something and does the out of warranty repairs for Game in PReston and Bolton I think.
He said the M$ Repairs come back with the same faults, but you all know that or this thread wouldn't exist

I`ll update later when I get it back, but check http://www.*************.co.uk/ and no I don`t work for him.

    Nice guy tho!
