Attention Play.com users look in VERY IMPORTANT!!

    All,

Yesterday I looked at my Bank account and saw some transactions to a 'WEBWORKS CAMBRIDGE'.
Instantly I called my bank to advise of fraudulent activity. They tols me that the transactions went through on the Sunday gone...

I have called 'Cambridge Webworks' today to investigate further who instantly stopped me and asked me to call Webworks Cambridge on 01223 484000. These are a company of Play.com!!

I have spoken to them, for some reason Play.com transactions that normally show up as Play.com on your bank account, are actually showing up as 'WEBWORKS CAMBRIDGE' ??? I am still awiaiting a call back to be advised why... but that is what is currently happening...

I should have added the values together and worked it out but I am so used to Play orders showing as PLAY!

Now I have to wait a week for a new cash card as my bank have stopped my original!! Pain in the arse and I hope I get the message out before others do the same.

    Thanks,

    Goldberg

Hmmm, so no Play transactions and these lot instead? Tax fiddle methinks... Strange as I thought they did all their business offshore anyway.

    Webworks billing/account enquiry?
We are Cambridge Webworks and we are not affiliated with Webworks of Cambridge.

Play.com have made a mistake with their billing system. Any payments to Webworks on your accounts are actually related to play.com. If you would like to speak to someone we have provided the contact details below:

    Play.com: 0845 800 1020
    Webworks of Cambridge: 01223 484 000
lmao someone f'd up big time there

I think originally he thought his card had been cloned as he didn't recognise the company so he cancelled his card. Turns out it was legit and to do with play.com but still has to wait for new cards etc

I placed an order with them over the weekend and have just had this email off them.

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for your recent order with Play.com

We write to advise you that due to an error in administration by our
bank any orders you have placed with Play.com from the 31st December
2008 to the 4th January 2009 will show as being debited by our sister
company Webworks Ltd on your account statement.

We can advise that this has now been rectified and any further orders
you wish to place will show as debited by Play.com.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any confusion or inconvenience
this matter may have caused and please do not hesitate to contact us
should you require any further assistance.

Our Customer Service Team is available on 0845 800 1020 (UK only) or +44
(0)1534 877595 (outside the UK). Our opening hours are 9am - 8pm Monday
to Friday and 9am - 5pm Saturday and Sunday.

    Kind Regards

    PLAY.COM

After having a card cloned a year ago I tend to check my Bank account on a daily basis. I knew I placed a single Play.com order and was expecting it. However I had two transactions from this mysterious company. If anyone is like me, the first thing they would do is to call the bank to ask wtf is going on. I didn't think to add the totals together as play usually just charge the once when all items have been sent as they were in the order I placed.

It's to stop people doing what I did and getting their cards cancelled. I have to wait a week for a new one now
