120GB waste of space shitty ipod

long story but i want to rant......

Got my new VW Golf in November which had a built in Ipod dock in the centre arm rest. Great i thought, I'll get an Ipod for xmas and away I go. No fucking chance. got a new ipod classic 120GB plug it in - doesn't charge and does not get recognised by the stereo. Tried my GF's nano - works perfectly.

Tried ringing VW they said it just wouldn't work with the new ipods. Apple couldn't help either.

I've found a few things on the internet that say you can get adapters but they are only for the new nano's, touch's and phones. Apple said they have nothing available for the new classic. All because Apple have changed the charging/dock system.

What a complete waste of fucking time and money. I'll have to sell the fooker now, and try and get an old ipod that will work.

I know I can get other ipod adapters that will link into the stereo, but it's a lease car so I can't go ripping it to bits.

i hate the hyper over ipods, they're all sh1te in my opinion, gimme removable disk drag n drop or copy and paste anyday.. bloody itunes - bah.

..a friend of mine had to dissapoint his grandson after trying to put tracks on the young one's ipod and bloody itunes started syncing all the grandad's frankie, he had to tell the young un something went wrong and it needed fixed!

there's infinately better mp3 players out there..

Ipods are wank indeed. The only good thing about them was the integration into the Burton Snow Jackets but even that didn't convince me to buy one.

I had the same problem with my new Golf.

Luckily my sister had the older classic so i nicked it from her.

Only problem is the stereo doesn't display song or album names.

So i'm always pulling the ipod out from the arm rest and changing albums then putting the Ipod back in the arm rest.

Can tell you it's a right pain in the arse doing that while driving.

i fucking love my iphone

and it works fine with my car (or anything else for that matter) cos the aux connection is just through a 3.5mm headphone jack

I love ipods, had a 2g, nano 1g, video 1g, itouch 16gb 1g and just upgraded to itouch 32gb 1g. Only one I had a problem with was the 2g but that was back when just unplugging them before ejecting could fuck them up. Although I agree it is fucking annoying apple have removed the video out via 3.5mm jack and changed the pins around on the docking port. Used to run audio and video into my headunit which has a 7'' touch screen monitor.

Ipod touch is by far my favourite, great interface and once jailbroken very fun!

Got a Nano if you want it mate. There is a catch though - doesn't hold its charge. Don't see this as a problem in a car though.

loved my old ipod and love my iphone now.

I believe apple have dropped firewire, which a lot of older docks/adapters use hence the change - not 100% sure though

I bought myself a 3rd gen nano..have had no probs with it..holds a charge for ages. easy to use and suits me just fine..but i can see how some would find ipods difficult, as there is`nt much control over what you can do with it, and itunes can be a pain in the arse.
