ive not used the 64 bit version as i've not got a 64 bit machine. The fact is, for 32bit at least, that the md5 for the ng download of build 7000 with the same filename and the md5 of the ms download are different

um.. there was no other way to get it at the time?

when i downloaded mine MS didnt get their servers in check for another 2 days and my vista install was facked.

why wait when the ISOs are confirmed as identical? what exactly do you have to lose?

especially if it has 600megs difference in file size between the same bit version. even a complete retard would spot that.

it was well known that theofficial beta release was coming. a risk is still a risk, however small. I'm all for taking risks to gain something but in this case ? Nah not for me thanks. I'm glad it worked out for you though

Just to stick my 2p in. I downloaded a 32bit version of the 7000 build off newsgroups between Christmas and New Year. No problems installing on my Dell XPS laptop and activated with a key from one of the links here ;-)

apologies marco, schoolboy error by me I never seen the bit in your post "its 64 bit tho." at the end, i just saw the link and thats the one i used, i did try a 32 bit version from newsgroups last week it had problems and didnt work, serials are all the same i agree a serial is not an MD5 and I still stand by the fact that there is a "so called" identical release to MS on on NG for 32 bit that has the wrong hash with it and has therefore definately been tampered with....but apologies for the mix up mate

Now what im thinking is,as i used a desktop with ethernet plugged in,it may have connected during install for drivers, and a laptop with a wifi connection cant do that till it is given a password, maybe all you need to do is use the ethernet conection of the laptop during install.

just a thought as it instaled every bit of Hardware on the desktop, first time.Which is not really windows usual trick.
    Tried that already no joy.

Without wanting to start it all up again - someone posted something in the other thread yesterday in the p&t saying a particular program worked on the "dodgy" copy but not on the "official"?

Don't really give 2 shites myself - got beta copies working that I'm happy with, but this could have some relevance to the little disagreement?

Sorry 4 Me will have another think as i have just installed it on another machine and it never found the Ethernet card and a load of other shit.
But this may be of interest to others
Somewhere on DF there is a download called all XP drivers which i have and i pointed all the missing devices there and it set every one up perfectly, then it connected and done some more good stuff. So far this is a Huge Leap foreward for MS.

Networking to XP is a pain i have to solve yet.

OK. Let's put a stop to all these silly rumours about how to do this.
    It's easy.

    1. Download the ISO from the NZB supplied on the first page. (32bit).
(64Bit NZB ISO - here. Upped by me)

    2. Install Windows 7 after burning the ISO at a slow speed (if you burn it at high speed, it creates errors!)

    3. Once you get to the part where you type a Username, do it without a password and dont activate!

    4. Once it's installed make sure you get it online and get ALL the updates from Microshit, because it's in the '30 days' it'll get them all! (It wont activate correctly if you dont!)

    5. Once all the updates are done, goto the activation page and insert one of the '10 keys' available practically everywhere.

    6. Download the patch to remove the Watermark and the Send Feedback link from here.

Windows 7 Activation, doesnt need 'cracking' it's a free download from Microshit and they want you to test drive it to help them iron out any fuck up's! Dont bother with things like TimerNuke as it just makes matters worse.

Hope this helps persuade any doubters that this doesnt work!
I AM using Windows 7 Beta as my main O/S purely cos I'm bored of XP and sick of the shit you get with Vista.

Windows 7 is most defiantely what Vista was supposed to be!!!
Anyone needing help after trying the above, send me a PM.

This is a picture of my Desktop today - Check the date!

didnt need most of that as I downloaded the official one, entered a key on install and it activated on its own. I did however use the program you linked to to remove the watermark and the send feedback link. Thanks for that I didnt know it was there.

Well finally got this up and running as I was having a problem with it finding the drivers for my wireless card.

Used Drivermax and all was sorted, I would recommend that app for anyone suffering driver issues.

Installed nod32 no probs, however, I cannot seem to get comodo free firewall to run, it tries to install and then just rolls back.

Prezzy - I know you use comodo did you have any issues?

Im running this on an old Tosh lappy with only 512mb ram and it seems fine.
