If you could run vista then you will be able to run windows 7. Alot of people even saying windows 7 is faster and less of a resource hog too so you should be alright.
there is quite a bit of info on win7, lots of talk about it at the moment, hell there's even a new section for it here on DF..
the answer is no, the beta version at least is nowhere near as resource hungry as vista.

cheers guys, will give it a go then
Go for it, as its happy on an Athlon XP 2200 with a Gig of ram here.Ok i have a 256 Meg AGP card as well for Aero, and so far its faster than Vista was on this machine.
My PC used to run great with XP, OK with Vista.
But is like Lightening with Windows 7 Beta. It's my main OS now and I'm keeping it that way! Micorosft should speed up development on this and start raking in the profits from their new worthwhile OS!
windows 7 is great mate, if you could run any version of vista, you will be fine with 7, it flys
Shame I still only have 256mb of RAM on this PC
Just installed it on a Toshiba Netbook with 512 ram and it runs a treat. Very impressed!
Installed it on my laptop over the weekend and its running much much better than the Vista install that was on there before... Will be installing it on my AMD 3500 machine tonight hopefully it will work on here as well...
Very impressed with it... Much more so than with Vista which is a pig. Best thing was installalion... Didnt have to set anything up, it found the correct drivers for every bit of hardware! The Vista install took ages as I had to keep loading drivers
Im gonna have a go with the windows key and p functions tonight to see how it handles the second display with my tv at home. This really is a great step forward for MS. It runs great and the new features are genuinely advanced. When I first installed it I though it was just a quicker version of Vista but there is so much more to it. I love all the new incorporated shortcuts with the windows button.
