    Default reflections

Just the two ,took a load of pony shots today ,but kept getting distracted by the puddles

Anyway first one is a recreation shot of the 'defining moment ',never wanted to freeze the shot but here it is ,thought it turned out kinda cute .

And the second one is just a reflection of a pylon

As Bert posted it was bloody freezing down here as well !

    1st one is tops!

How do you get a reflection of a Pylon to be the right way up? Surely it should be upside down or is 36 hours with 45 minutes sleep starting to take it's toll?

The sleeps taking it's toll. Get your hot water bottle and get some kip You turn the camera round, or rotate it later in a bit of editing software.

Like the young kid pic. Works fairly well, but might have been better with more water (turning the camera portrait position).

The first shot is a nice little take on Cartier-Bresson's more famous pic but I agree with Paul in that a wider angle or portrait would have worked better. It's lost something by cutting off her head in the reflection.

The second image doesn't really work for me but I guess that's because I'm forever cloning power lines out on my images

They are both very nice shots especially the first one. As said by Neo, I would liked to have seen the full reflection. Nice idea on the pylon shot.

I dont normally shoot pylons ,anyways the reflection was only cut off because i wasnt ready for it , just looked up as she ran through the edge of three puddles this being the last ,just had enough time to quickly change the shutter speed (guessed it) to try and leave a little movement .Might set it up next time and have her with wellies on as she got soaked lol (boots weren't waterproof ) .
    One just after the first

Eddie, much prefer that second shot mate. With a little rotation and a slight crop off the top to remove the blown bit of sky it will be nice.

The first one is the better of the bunch but I am with Neo and Paul here, a portrait version would have worked much better, the second version of it, kinda lacks something, but like Neo said a slight rotation and crop could salvage it to remove the distraction of the blown highlights.

The image you were trying to recreate was "The decisive moment" taken in 1932 by Cartier Bresson, personally I didn't take to his image when I first saw it but when i saw a whole program about the history of photography it opened it up in a whole new light and now for me it is one of the defining images of it's time.

well goin against the grain here - I actually like the first one better (although both are very good) , there is just something about the first one that says "captured moment" to me so its my fav but well done on both.

You're not going against the grain mate. The first is a better image, but the crop lets it down. The second has a better crop, but doesn't have the same impact the first has.
