It might well be a coincidence but it appears that windows 7 has broken both my Ethernet ports.
I installed it on Saturday and everything was working fine and up and running, didn't have to install anything just ran windows update a few time and everything was working perfectly including media sharing over the network and internet, etc.
The network detect settings showed all the computers connected to the network and the netgear router it was attached to.
Booted the machine on Sunday and couldn't then I could no longer connect to the router.
(i.e. 192.168.0.1 doesn't work)
Tried running all the fixes I could think of and the thing still says couldn't get a valid ip address or similar.
Installed a wireless card and can connect to the router fine and my xbox connects through a wire to the router and can still get on xbox live, so that is working.
I then reinstalled windows 7 to see if that fixed it but no joy.
I reinstalled windows xp and that had the same problem.
The drivers are installed and working and it looks like the network cards are trying to do something but just cannot connect.
Is there anything else I can do to try and fix this or do they look to be broken randomly?
The only other thing I could try is I think I have a pci Ethernet port somewhere that I could install to see if that works. Otherwise im out of ideas other than sending the motherboard back for replacement.
Thanks
