Alright guys.
I have a 360 from 2006, just under warranty that has RRoD for the second time.
Can I get away with sending it to MS even thought i have:
- Flashed the DVD drive.
- Took the tape off the DVD drive
- Left small marks on the case entry points.
- Removed XClamps.
If put the above back to its original state, will they fix it for me?
Cheers,
G
If you've removed the xclamps then you'll need to put them back on before you send it off to them. To be certain of a repair I'd put it all back to how it should be in Microsofts eyes
Will do.
Just trying to locate a pair of xclamps & harder still, the tape.......
Will let you know how i get on.
Cheers, G.
Update - got the xclamps, not just need to DVD drive Tape..........
You dont need Dvd tape. Sent loads back without it, just clean any residue from it.

Cheers AD.
All sorted it that case.
Many thanks.
Will update on what i get back from MS.
Anyone know where i might find the original firmware/s?
Don't forget this site for all your 360 spares and RROD consoles
http://www.ck3.co.uk/xbox-360-spares/
I didn't flash it unfortunately.
I havent flashed any yet (Still working out which tool to get: the Xecuter or Maximus)
Its a Samsung. Anyone have this firmware for a good corz?
Is it easy to get the Key from the iXtream firmware on the drive?
(not meaning to high jack the thread)
Many thanks, G.
B*llocks, just got my console back and they've refused to repair it as it's been tampered with.
To be fair whichever muppet had it before had not made a good job of opening it up but I thought I'd sorted it out OK and would get it repaired.
The most annoying thing is that it is still in warranty so whatever the problem was the original owner could have got it repaired for free by MS anyway!!
Oh well, looks like it'll be back on Ebay then!! Win some, lose some.
Don't know how they decide which to repair and which to send back tbh, i sent one back which had a damaged case, no warranty sticker, and a flashed drive and, they sent me a new replacement
Hopefully some more of the HDMI ones come up again, wouldnt mind a go of these but feel that the amount of tools and know how needed would make it hard.
Im the type of dude who is good at fixing stuff , dvd players appliances etc...
Sparky by trade - also been able to program my own satellite cards, make my own modchips and solder them in ....
