360 no video output (not wrong res)

decided to dig out my non working 360 the fault is as follows
as I was playing cod 4 on the epilogue the screen resolution started to lose all detail and just show up as shades of the background colours then it lost all display i turned the console off and left it for a few hours. turned it on and everything back to normal for about half hour then it did it again (lose of detail then bo display) except this time a complete lose of display which has never come back except there was sound.
i did ring ms but was out of warrenty i was going to send it away but didnt want to wait four weeks as was playing a dlot of multiplayer at the time so got another one

anyone got any ideas to what is wrong? or is it a ms repair only?

It's overheating by the sounds of it. Replace the Xclamps, clean the chips and add artic silver thermal 5 paste, then put Xecuter RRoD pads on the RAM chips. Overheat until you get 2 red lights, cool down completely, then it should be alive again

I doubt it's out of warranty for 3 red lights. Arrange a repair for a 3 rrod and they'll fix it. It also doesn't take 4 weeks, had 2 reapirs back in 10 days each.

YUp, register it, tell them you got 3 red lights and send it of. 7-10 days later you should have a repaired box
