Windows 7 Beta-Not Genuine

I just restarted my pc and a screen popped up informing me my copy of windows was not genuine!

I'm not to sure about these things but I thought Windows 7 Beta build 7000 was for evaluation purposes and therefore technically was. I really don't want to install Vista.

I've always been a slow adopter, usually waiting for SP1 before I dip my toe. Therefore I think I will wait a little longer.. cheers

someone else has had a nag screen saying their win7 was not genuine. They used the build 7000 from the newsgroup (32 bit). Seems it wasnt same as the build 7000 direct from ms after all ?

Mine's been fine but I've been using vista instead more and more cos there seems to be issues with the networking becoming unstable over time. Theres probably fixes out there for it but i cant be arsed and just reboot into vista when it happens.

Had no networking issues but I keep losing my pissing wi-fi drivers on this AAO with no apparent reason why. I mean, not sleep or anything I can be in the middle of something and bam. No network, device manager says no Wi-fi card installed, drivers vanished. lmao. Pain in the rear end. I have to boot into XP to fix it. Wi-fi card is there in XP, it just has no drivers! Baffles the fuck out of me. But again, it's just a beta - there's bound to be probs with it.

that is NOT windows 7's fault mate, thats the atheros card in the acer aspire one. It's a well documented problem and happens in all os's including the default linux, and restores after a shutdown (all the way to off, not restart)/reboot. It's why I replaced mine for a broadcom one (theyre under a tenner on ebay)

gotta say, barring a few issues i had with crashing when i installed the wireless mouse input filter (and then subsequently rolled back) its been really smooth sailing.... the only downside being my screensaver doesnt come on cos it always thinks theres input from the mouse :/ but i can live with turning monitors off manually.. save a bit of electricity.

oh and chrome crashes every fucking time on theregister under windows 7 for some reason... but these are trivial things.

its stable as fuck, fast, clean... im just gonna use it till it craps out, then install the rtm over the top.
