Attention Jackson to announce London dates

    Jackson to announce London dates

Michael Jackson appeared at the World Music Awards in London in 2006

Michael Jackson is expected to announce a series of summer comeback concerts at the O2 arena in London.
The pop legend is due to appear at the venue on Thursday make to a "special announcement", a statement said.
It follows months of speculation about a string of money-spinning shows. Jackson last performed in 2006, at the World Music Awards in London.
But he disappointed fans at that event by singing just a few lines of We Are The World. He last toured 12 years ago.
The O2, in Greenwich, south-east London, is the venue where Prince played for 21 nights in 2007, and where Britney Spears is performing for eight nights in June.
Jackson would be likely to follow a similar pattern of a run of gigs at one venue, rather than an extensive tour.
At Thursday's press conference, he will hope to convince fans he is fit enough to perform a number of full shows.
    Neverland auction
His last substantial series of concerts came in 1996 and '97, when he played 82 shows in 58 cities as part of the HIStory tour. His last album of original material came out in 2001.
Stories about personal, health and financial problems have circulated in recent years, and he was cleared of child abuse after a four-month trial in 2005. The singer is selling many of the contents of his former Neverland ranch at auction in Los Angeles next month. But with classic releases like Thriller - the world's best-selling album - plus Bad and Off the Wall, he is the most successful entertainer of all time, according to Guinness World Records, and retains a huge global fan base.

I saw him at Sheffield on the HIStory tour and it was very good. Not the best gig i've been to by any stretch but he was a good showman and me and the wife have been looking at going to London in the summer, so if he's on any of the nights we're there I reckon we'll try and get a pair of tickets.

Although not if they are the price of some of the other folk who've played there! I ain't paying more than £50 or so a ticket.

I'd have loved to have seen Prince when he was there.

I went to Milton Keynes around that time, when he was bad, bad, really really bad. I was only 13 & was interested in seeing the women have a slash over the top of the bowl - 1980's growlers
No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...

This is all he's ever had to do to sort out his debt problems. People will be lining up to get tickets for this.

Brother went to his Concert at Roundhay Park in Leeds, I wasn't allowed to go as I was too young.

1 of the regrets/pains in my life.

Brother came back full of amazement and great stories which made me feel a whole lot better, NOT!!

I saw him at Wembley in 88 too. I remember being pretty much below the crane as he came out over the audience (not quite under, but near enough), so 20, 30 rows of bodies from the front. I don't think I was actually touching the ground at the time, the swell of bodies to get to the front meant those of us AT the front were crushed and lifted off our feet. Absolutely amazing experience, I for one will be aiming to get tickets, should be utterly fantastic!

I think my fave part of the HIStory tour was when the stage was covered by this enormous white sheet and then the lights came on from behind it and there was a huge silhouette of him against the sheet in his smooth criminal gear, then he and about 15 other dancers did the "leaning" thing from the video. He then pulled out a tommy gun fired it up and across the roof of the stage and the sheet fell down and he kicked off big style with Smooth Criminal.

    Proper showmanship that!

yeah lets all go support a man that has been accused of sexual abuse quite a few times.

although i agree he is a good showman i will not support him in any way
