Nintendo DS which card to get for kiddies DS?

Sorry for being lazy here but my lass has asked me to "get 2 of those DS card things"
The kids are only 7 yrs old whats the best option where I can just load some stuff up for them and they can pick games to play easily - obviously Im just after simplicity here..
any links to dealxtreme or somewhere like that would be appreciated - I`ve never even used a DS so I`m a complete N00b here is there anything I need to be aware of?

Acekard 2 or R4DS get my vote, probably the R4DS for extra simplicity

Although most clones of the R4s are ok, you still have to be careful with them. I've had 2 that have bricked DS's. I always stick to the original R4 now (2GB max version, FW 1.18) or the Acekard 2. The one you posted is a clone.

there are no R4s out there that can be guarenteed to work with future games as none have any form of official support, there is however a few people developinng unofficial updates but these cannot be relied on.

Cards like the Acekard and Cyclo DS have regular updates, in the case of the Acekard it has both official firmwares and unofficial ones so that would be a very good option, the only problem with them is they have a lot of options that could possibly be found by a child who doesnt know what he/she is doing.

Another option is one of the new DSi cards, like the Acekardi 2's. They will work on your original DS and DS lite as well as the DSi if you decide to "upgrade" in the future. They have not been out long so no one knows which is the best yet, although if the Acekards are original and not clones then id go with one of them.

If you are just sticking with a DS, get a DSTT. Cheap as chips and they work just fine.

You can get Original R4 - v1.18 firmware from Volumerate and they still play every game released to date (although you may have to patch the odd game with a fixed arm7.bin file which is really easy too)

To make it harder for the kids to screw it up, when you put the system files on the microSD card, highlight them, right click and select properties then tick 'Hidden' and 'Read Only' boxes to prevent them from being deleted.

IMO the R4 has the simplest menu, has excellent build quality and I have never had 1 fail.

Got 2 R4DS for £17.95 each (with 2GB MicroSD cards) delivered from memorybits.com

    http://www.memorybits.co.uk/shop/sd-...micro-sd-/5941

These would make 3. I have ALL the DS games and all work fine (that I've tried).

My five year old can operate as Acekard fine, she knows enough to find the games she likes to play.

    Easy.
People like Supercard do all the development and make the big investments to get the product right, then all the copies get manufactured by very cheap labour with very cheap materials.
The costs are initially higher than todays prices, but as the market becomes flooded with rival products, the pricewar starts and the consumer wins.
*The only pitfalls are the poorly produced items which have adverse affects to the consumer and the cheap labour that put these things together just to put food on the table.

*How many of us consider this when buying cheap goods from China?

    or care....

sadly, its a consumers market. if they offer me a card for $6 delivered or the same card from another supplier for £20 where the only difference is more links in the chain each taking their cut, then i'll take the $6 card thanks

There is no other real and viable alternative

An extreamly valid point, but a sad one too.
I'm dead against sweatshop type of consumerism but its very hard not to be part of the chain at some point.

AceKard 2 from dealextreme is a pretty decent card. Cheap and it does the job.
