    Default erased lite-on

well after an hour or so of tinkering i think i've bricked my drive. if i open up JF .26 beta and go to dvd key 32 tab all i get next to vendor,name,F/W rev and Reserved are rows of A1A1A1A1. i have got 3 bin files from a previous attempt that i could try and put back on (they are identify, inquiry and key.bin files),if i knew how. any help guys.............

Don't panic! Easy to say sat here and not there. You need to load up the key files and go to the mktflash tab on JF to write then to the drive.

do as you did before to connect it all up (on, open, off, push back, on) and you should get it to 0x72 again then you can simply write the files. Oooo it all sounds so simple, but last week I wiped a brand new drive and had that moment of panic as it stopped playing ball. It all worked out in the end tho

Lite-ons are actually quite resilient mate, even if you have bricked it then it's easily rectified as long as you have your key, enquiry.bin etc.

If you are using a Via chipset then you might want to uninstall your Via drivers and just let PortIO32 do all the work, otherwise you might end up with the Via Freeze Semi-Bricked drive.

Don't disable your Via drivers if your PC uses them to drive your Windows hard drives

He's headed off for the night, but it now won't respond to an eject command as the chip is erased with no f/w on it.

Is it safe to assume he will have to put it in vendor mode manually by operating the lever or is this a bit more of a mare?

right guys i been looking into this and sort of found a guide,it says ;-

if you know the sata port number and the port do the follows and 100 % will work :.

    - make bootable usb flash by Iprep 8.8
    - copy the hacked.bin (new firmware) and dummy.bin to the usb flash
    - restart you PC by USB flash on DOS
    - write DOSFLASH then enter
    - chose your port number
    - write LITeon E then enter
    - after finish erasing again write DOSFLASH and chose your port number
    - this time chose W
    - write hacked.bin

    AFTER FINISH writing

write firmtool dummy.bin hacked.bin then enter

thing is,not much of that makes sense.
I got iprer 008.8,now where it says "copy the hacked.bin (new firmware) and dummy.bin to the usb flash",where do i put it? do i use iprep to do it or do i put the ixtreme 1.51 on using iprep and after thats done do i re-open the mem stick and just drag and drop?

flip the drive over so you see the bottom board, slide the black slider thing to the left fully and it will eject.
    sure youll figure it out.
