Xbox 360 returns - wrong serial

Hey guys,

The MS repair guy on the phone fucked up when i was registering a new box and trying to get another repaired, the repair job was logged as my new box.

Obviously i got a UPS lable and just sent it off - was only when i logged in to see if it arrived i noticed the job was on the wrong serial.

So i rings up MS to find out the score... the agent said he wasnt so sure so could i hold for a supervisor.

Online it showed as the repair job being cancelled, because the serials were not correct - i thougth ah shit, 2 weeks of waiting around only to have to do it all again.

Few mins later the supervisor tells me not to worry, as they will usually just fix it anyway, but in the rare event it comes back not fixed, just logged another repair online.

Low and behold, yesterday it turns up - with a new motherboard.

Dont know if i was lucky or if its just another loop hole at MS.

seen a few of these, new internals minus hdmi, only reason i can think of them building these odd units is they wont give out hdmi leads free.

Could be so they can fit them in the old style case and not have to replace the case for every repair.

Cheaper for a brand new build and design etc just so they dont need to spend on HDMI. Sounds just like M$.

My mate sent back a working xbox a couple of weeks back (towelled 1rrod) after telling them in was 3rrod intermittent. They sent a full new unit, hdmi lead, viva pinata and 1 month of xbox live for free all as their way of saying 'sorry' for it breaking...

I have a banned launch console and a working console. I have already tried sending the banned one back and they told me as it is banned they won't fix it. If I log the job under the working ones serial and send the banned one in do you think they'll fix it?

heard mixed reports on this, some people are saying it will work and some saying they just return it saying this isnt the xbox you registered, its worth a try mate as it wont cost you nothing but i reckon they just check the serial numbers immediately now

i suppose it depends whos opening it the other end really
