Default Someone Please Help before I go nuts!

Please someone help me b4 i pull all my hair out.

I installed a Wiikey 2 in my Wii with no problems, everything boots first time so my mate asked me to install one for him. so i say ok.

Installed the chip and ran an original disc from my region like the supplier advized, then i put in a backup...the game appeared in the disc channel so i thought great, the chip is working ok..but when i continue it just gives me a black screen and the disc just spins, i put the disc in my own wii and boots no problem?

The Wii firmware is 3.2e so i know this is the preferred version, so i think ok i'll have a go at this softmod thing, i installed the HBC via an ISO that i downloaded from the HBC website, then installed Backup Launcher and Gecko Os following Dantelo's (Disqworld) tutorial, that all seemed to work fine, i now have these two extra channels.

I put in the backup, click on backup launcher and the Wii resets?
I did the same with Gecko and the Wii resets?...i have spent over a week at this and it's driving me nuts

Now i did read about using Zelda, but i didn't do this at any time, is this where i have gone wrong? i have the three extra channels installed on my Wii menu 'Backup Launcher,Gecko and HBC' backups apprear in the disc channel but just won't boot in this Wii but they will in mine?

Please someone tell me what i am doing wrong, surely it has to be something simple.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

How did you manage to install HBC without the twilight hack?

From an ISO which would suggest that the chip is working.

have you got a memory stick lying around could you not try the new usb loader see what happens there.
Also might be worth installing the pre loader just in case it all goes pair shaped for any reason.
Ive never seen or had this happen before, maybe just used the guide that's sticked on here and start from scratch sure it cant do any harm, could just be a duff file somewhere I suppose

this might sound like crap but i find that each wii has its own preference for blank media - I have a pile of disks that i did for my sons chipped wii - none will boot on my softmodded ones though but I changed brand (make sure they are dvdr- I think -check as i may be wrong) and they boot ok - if u can install the zelda hack off an iso u downloaded then your chip must be working - try something like that usb iso loader to see if it can boot games off that

I used to get the black screen when I was trying to use a jap iso on my wii through the disc channel. Using the homebrew channel I installed gamma 0.3 and used that to load my import game iso's but my copied pal games work fine just booting through the disc channel.

Another thing that causes the black screen is if you have a game but you either a don't have the required updates for it. Or it requires your screen to be at 60hz.

Good luck. If you can't get anything working there is a pack out there with everything you need to install gamma0.3 on the wii with the latest patch.

P.s just checked the post above. Make sure your using ritech dye on your dvds! important.

I have had that problem on my chipped console. I use BrickBlocker on all my backups. One game refused to load (think it was Mario Kart) just going to black screen. As it was a PAL backup I burnt it again without blocking it, and indeed it did ask to update the console. It wasn't a Firmware update and I don't know what it updated but the game booted up no problem then.

    Hi

Thanks for all the replys, ive been reading that many different things that my head is starting to spin, i even went to all the hassle of stripping the Wii's laser unt right down and adjusting the laser pot which according to the tutorial i read was meant to make the Wii work with even the most crappy discs but still no joy.

I'm still pretty much a noob when it comes to this softmodding thing but i'll have a go at anything, should i start from scratch again, how do i take off all the stuff i already have installed...looks like it's gonna be a long night again.

As for USB Loader, i've never heard of it so there's more reading to come and i didn't really understand the reference to using Brick Blocker and that firmware update thing, can s'one please simplfy that to a thicko

Many thanks again for all your help.
