Default Microsoft outlook and exchange server problem.

I am working with a microsoft outlook server. We use the client. Microsoft Outlook 2003 to access out mail. I have been finding that on 2 machines only the mail is not syced it is fully removed from the server. The logical setting "use cached exchange mode" is set. But still on two machines it removes everything from the server. Can anyone help me? Its DOING MY TREE IN!

Could be a number of things but I would read this page to make sure its not any of the issues! Good luck, keep us posted!

i dont get that at all, if its set-up as an exchange account you have no options for deleting mail or keeping a copy on the server?

What happens if you recreate there account on another machine? is it only a problem local to the machines or logins?

Sorry just reading your original message, you've called it an outlook server, no offence meant by this but it would possibly mean your not 100% on Exchange server etc so just to state the obvious are the accounts setup as POP3 accounts on the client pc??

I apologise for the shitty post to begin with. The Server is an exchange server and we are using Ms Outlook for the client. The messages get taken from the server and put into a public folder (favourites folder) and I cannot figure out why. No setting has been changed on the local machines or the server. It Just started doing it. This is the first time I have used and Exchange server. They are not set up as pop3 on the client machines no. We access it on the server as ExTap.tapton.net.

sounds to me like there mail enabled public folders and they have the names of the users email linked to them

Can you check in your exchange manager and have a look at the properties of the public folder?
did these accounts ever work? no rules or anything daft set by the user?

Check rules on the mailboxes (can be checked from the client)

Also check somehere in the client (cant remeber exactly, use 2007 now) that it says deliver new mail to: followed by a drop down where you can choose either a local mailbox or their exchange mailbox, you want the exchange one.

Also assume this is exchange 2003?

We are able to delete the local .pst file where it is downloading the mail too but we can revert it to the server. and once we re-open outlook it wants to save the file back there or to another local file not the server. How can we change it back?

On the affected machines, click Start, Control Panel, Mail.

Then click Email Accounts, View or change existing email acc.

Then have a look at the dropdown box at the bottom left - should say Mailbox - User. If it's on anything else, change it.
