Good stuff! Enough of the St Paddy bollocks, lets celebrate St George with some warm beer, morris dancing and pork scratchings, the things that made this country great! Who's with me?

    Good on ya Mr. O

Not enough is made of St.Georges Day... everyone's to afraid of upsetting the minorities.

I was Manchester around noon on Sunday and the traffic was at a standstill. 10 mins later, and a band of caucasian males came walking past banging drums in a "bangra beat" style followed by about 30-40 caucasian women dressed in indian wraps and shawls etc, dancing the traditional Indian dances. We parked up and went wandering, and we passed where they had gone, there was a sign saying "this road closed 19th april 12-2pm for st georges day parade"

Now I know this is possibly going to be sticking my head in a hornets nest, but wtf has that got to do with St. George? Yes, indian cultures are becoming common place in England now, but isn't this another case of political correctism again? We don't want to offend so lets make our celebration of England all about someone else????

Isn't that just the way it is now m8. Were scared to celebrate our own culture incase we offend someone. In other words they don't like it.

Not forgetting that the reason St Patricks is so popular is because of Guiness and their advertising might.

How many people will drink the stuff because it is Paddys day.

That and the fact that the little green feckers get everywhere...!!!!

There has nothing to do with offending ethnic minorities, but everything to do with the deeply ingrained cynicism and ambivelence that exists in the English mind-set i.e. we're just too bloody lazy to do anything about it.

St George was a turk and never came to England. So what the fuck has he got to do with St George's Day?

Let's call this what it really is, 'A rose-tinted nostalgic remembrance of a once vast tyrannical empire that is long since dead' Day

Sounds good to me - Saints are a religious concept, so yet more fairy tale bullshit, so best to remember England for the great murdering nation we once were
