So if this is the release candidate then does it have the xp virtualisation mode on it that they are talking about on the register?

It should allow you to install xp app in a vm ware style xp install and load them directly from your windows 7 desktop. That'd be cool.

And also if I already have a beta key will this version stay active till the release date of the official version?

I have seen it used on a Dell Mini 9 worked a treat.
Normally use Vista drivers for it so should be able to get them for the NC10 no problem

Go on what the worst that can happen you reinstall XP but after using if for the last 4 Months i never looked back

Well only you will know if you try it.its an RC but still a beta system, so thats what testing a beta is all about.
Image your present setup and bang it on,if it works, cool, but if not half an hour will take you back to where you are now.

its some thing to do with the graphis accelerator in the other verisons..

What on earth makes you say that?!

I read somewhere that there is a vista graphics driver that ups the experience score considerably and allows full aero use/functions; Ill try and dig it out.

This guy has done what you are asking and seems happy with first impressions.

i did read it some where is speeds up your graphics..
and it keep running it at high speed all the time..and it will knack your graphics..

but vista basic is OK.as it dose not have the program in.

Dont you mean only Vista can make use of the Intel GN40 chipset performance and XP cant.Hence speeding the graphics up to full potential.
XP supports the DirectX Video Acceleration 1.0 API, to get the best out of the GN40 you need DXVA 2.0, which comes with Vista

Actually I wasnt even thinking about Vista, rather Win 7 that was being asked about, so you may well be right, but 7 should be ok in most/all forms (and only ultimate is avail in RC anyway).

the reson for samsung bringing nc11 out so it can run xp & vista .


just done a search there loads put Vista Ultimate up over on.

It appears that Samsung are to release a successor to the NC10. The Samsung NC11 however doesn’t appear to have any of it’s specifications different, apart from a reduced hard drive space and operating system. The NC10 comes with a 160GB hard drive where as the NC11 is said to come with a smaller 120GB hard drive. The NC11 will however be available on Windows Vista and Windows XP, unlike the NC10, only available with Windows XP.
The user manual, firmware and drivers that are available for the NC11 are identical to that of the NC10.

Your origional argument was that the NC10 (or any netbook) shouldnt run vista (or at least only basic), and that the NC11 was coming to run Vista.

I was just pointing out that several sources have said they are virtually the same machine, so dont understand how your argument stands?

i,ve also done a search and only can find people saying thy put in on there netbook and it can be done..but no solid pro and cons and do thy still have it on..

like what i have said in 1st post.i said there a problin as i was told..
by pointing this out .other user will now look around and get more imfo.
as vista/windows 7 will go on any comp..the question will it do any damage to componants...

Im sorry but maybe I should have said statement rather than argument - I didn't mean argument in a negative context, rather your point of view.

Unfortunately, you dont seem to have expressed yourself very well gramatically, so its not the easiest to understand exactly what you are saying. You did however quite clearly state that "only vista basic can go on netbooks" this is quite clearly not true, mearly your own opinion and whether it is advisable or not.

Re-read the quote ref NC11 again - it states that that the drivers and paperwork ARE EXACTLY the same, NOT similar!

Also, the origional post (of this page) was asking if anyone had tried Win 7 on an NC10 and I gave a link of someone who had done just that and their experience of it, (there are also plenty of people who have run Win 7 since the first beta with no problems).

Win 7 is not the same as Vista anyway.

Please dont try and scaremonger people with no evidence to back it up, is all I am asking!

@ britmade,can you give us a link to where the people are saying that,as iv'e never found any,and the worst Vista,or Win 7 does with lower graphics memory is run at basic mode,ie no bells whistles or earo.

And yes it is a forum to pass help and info on,but sometimes quoting the source of the information goes a long way to supporting your argument.(Statement)

Any way its Windows 7 thats the issue here, and as it has been run on all sorts of lowly desktops,i don't think a netbook will trip it up as long as it has enough ram.

Guys if your downloding 7100 from torrents check the MD5 hash some bad images out their with trojans in them..
