its some thing to do with the graphis accelerator in the other verisons..

can you show a web site that says windows 7 runs ok
and not a site where people saying it look like it dose..


we all no that it will go in any pc.but will it do any harm to a net book is what the first post was for..

went to the sites dates oct 2008.long time in comp world.
there is some mention of video not that good in some programs.
and thy are say that window 7..may be better.buts its only beta..
and when have micro soft ever told user there a problin !!!.

As for the Video playback,that is because netbooks don't have as much Video ram as Normal Desktops.

There might be a version designed for netbooks that is a bit like win CE,
ie needing less hardware,but from what i read, that looks like it may not even be necessary as reports are its working well on Netbooks already.

just tried this and keep getting Windows is unable to configure settings and to fix, restart your PC?

went in once but then it cocked up and wouldn't let me access anything..

any ideas?

As for the Video playback,that is because netbooks don't have as much Video ram as Normal Desktops.

All this time using computers and you still haven't learnt how to use a spell checker lol. Here, I'll help you out, http://www.jspell.com/public-spell-checker.html or use Firefox, it checks your spelling as you type, amazing.

Seriously though, the guys on here go out of their way to test things and help people out where they can. Once I have learnt something and see someone needs help I will help if I can too. We all help each other.

Some have tested W7 on netbooks and report it to be working just fine. Test it on yours and see, if it doesn't work then report back, it's the only way to find out just like the guys on here have done, it's called trial and error.

People on here don't base anything on a members number of posts, but when someone is talking drivel, that's another matter! You won't get much if any help on here with an attitude. Your turning this thread into something it shouldn't be, either take the advise, test yourself then report back and contribute something but stop posting argumentative piffle please, it's boring.

If you say its going to damage Graphics cards,then for gods sake show us proof,you say you know this,so explain how you reached the conclusion.

If your putting it out there for people to look out for then show them Evidence.

Are you doing the upgrade or clean format,
Do you mean its installed and wont let you reinstall or repair?
Could also be a Sata Driver issue, but Ive installed 4 times and never had any sata problems.

Sounds like a reinstall any how.

hi matey.. this is from a clean install on a laptop mate.. can't be sata issue as it don't have sata..
I've just installed XP SP3 (standard) and now gonna just try the upgrade option..

it seems to not want to configure the startup settings etc.. and says it will try again after reboot but can't complete..

downloaded from the NGS link here and burned at 2.4x

If its a Laptop is it plugged into the ethernet ,so Win 7 can go find its bits an pieces.
It cant use the Wireless till you let it,
only one i had trouble with was the one i forgot to connect to the router during install.
But that was only some drivers it couldnt find,but when connected it got them.

Give it a go if it lets you upgrade from XP.

had to do clean install.. it won't let you do it but does offer a solution online.. so just did clean install..

gonna drop some software on it now and test the water..
