Gears of War 2 Achievement Hacking: Banning has begun
As you know, we are committed to keeping Xbox LIVE a safe and fair place to play for the more than 17 million active members. As part of our regular safety monitoring we have pinpointed a group of players who have unlocked specific Gears of War 2 Achievements through an illegal hack. Deliberate cheats like these are in direct violation of the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use and will not be tolerated. As I post this, we’ve begun taking steps to reset the Gamerscores of the offending players. As I have mentioned in the past, this is something we do occasionally to keep the service free of cheating in order to maintain a fair and level playing field for everyone. If you play fair and earn your achievements without glitching or cheating, you have nothing to worry about. I wanted to follow up and let you know where we are on the post I made a few months ago on Gamesave Tampering. Today we took action on some of the accounts we have identified as the most serious offenders who have violated the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use by tampering with their Gamerscore and Achievements.
The steps today takes the form of the following:

• Resetting the entire Gamerscore for an account to zero
• The account will be unable to regain all previously obtained achievements and Gamerscore, however, the players will have the ability to gain future Achievements by earning them fairly, like the majority of the Xbox LIVE community does.
• The account will be clearly labeled as a cheater for the community to view on xbox.com. You can see an example here. In dash, the personal view of the gamercard will be labeled as well.

Xbox LIVE remains committed to keeping the service free of cheating in order to maintain a fair and level playing field for everyone.

i've been helping people with a fable 2 achievement called "the completionist" as you need to have all expersions to get this one, but to get it you need to buy an arcade game fable 2 pub games, where you get a book to use in fable 2 for the last expression, which i think is wrong for m$ to do as its more money for them. so what i did was someone on my friends list had just bought the pub game and got the books. i asked him if would pass them to me in fable 2, then i would pass them back to him. i then saved my fable game and then removed my mem card then gave him the books back, so when i reload my game i still have the books for the achievement. but i was cloning the books as well by passing the book to a mate (before i used it) after i removed my mem card then i would reload my game he would then pass the book back to me and i would have 2, save my game remove mem card pass the books to him, you get the picture so i ended up with 32 of the books, which i give to random people/orbs in fable 2.


all i can say is fook m$ for been greedy

I've got 43k on my gamerscore and I am quite proud of it really, I see it as a measure of my skill as a gamer. I don't cheat to get any of them, although I have got mates together before online to get certain achievements that you need people of reasonable skill to get.

I'd never glitch to get them, defeats the object of the whole thing.

I tend to get a semi every time I get an achievement.
Its just kinda nice to complete a game fully so then you never have to play it again... or do I just have obsessive compulsive disorder?

I think I only ever cheated on Halo 3 for 2 of the achievements but have looked up a few hidden items on youtube. I hate achievements like that cos they envolve no skill and just lots of pointless looking around.
That and the sit through the credits ones can totally go fuck themselves...

I find the addition of the achievements is more likely to make me complete a game. I think I've completed more games on my 360 than any other console / computer in almost 30 years of game playing. I recently managed 100% game completion on Tiger Woods 09, something I've never got near on any other version of Tiger, but those 100g for all the trophies and tophy balls, something a close friend did not have, was a big incentive for me to put the extra hours in.

Just to add, by complete I don't mean 1000g, just having got all the way through an FPS story arc or something.

2 months ago i was 75th in the UK on mygamercard
If im not on the xbox the little one or misses is, its never off really, nothing has changed.

Currently on 125k and rank 133, which shows the massive amount of gamesaving which is going on nowadays, last time they did a reset like this i went from 110 to 77, just goes to show how many people are doing it nowadays..

to get back to rank 75 i would need 18k which i basicly 18 games fully finished 100%, theres no way in the world somebody could add 18k legit to there scores in 2 months..

I did hex edit Fallout 3 to get 10 in all SPECIAL stats and to get full level 20 as soon as I left the vault, but I had all the achievements for FO3 before I did it.

I do kinda see the point in the whole gamerscore thing but i find them pointless if they are awarded for merely playing the game. Loads of games award you points for playing through the tutorials, scoring 1 goal or whatever, you would have to be a complete fuckwit to not be able to achieve stuff like this.
