    Default coroners inquest

i didnt know where to post this so chose here.

what id like to know is, when someone dies suddenly and there is an inquest, are ALL those inquests public, or can the family ask for them to be private??

If they are public then can any member of the public access those records to find out how the person died, and if the answer is yes, will the family be told someone has requested the results of the findings??

    any thoughts appreciated guys.

    cheers

Coroners Inquests are public mate as they are held in the Coroners court, hence why the results of inquests are reported in the news.

The Coroner has more power than almost any other judge about and the coroners court is one where the family of the deceased can ask questions directly to any of the witnesses (police, doctors, ambulance staff etc).

I'm not entirely sure whether non related people can request the records after the inquest, but if they were that interested i would expect them to attend the hearing in the first place.

they couldnt attend the inquest as the family told them to stay away and are not saying how the guy died to friends, they must have thier reasons obviously.
