    Default New Job!

As well as my usual job, I'm also now a tattoo apprentice
The owner, who I've known for about 12 years from skateboarding back in the day, is wanting to train me up to work there! he said he gets asked a lot, but he likes my artwork and wanted someone he knew and could trust so asked me if I wanted the job! yey.
just working Saturdays and some evenings to start with which is cool cos it fits round my current job no problem.

no money while i'm training which is the norm. And I have to supply my own victims... er I mean "mates" to practice on. just small tats. under his supervision. plus I'm carrying on with my own legs of course.
Been down 3 times so far and helped draw up a half sleeve last time.. I love it.

Did my first big ish one yesterday. Just a tribal a guy from work wanted off the net, but I'd cleaned it up on the PC and changed it very slightly.
The boss was very happy with how it went. there were a couple of wobbles, but he was pleased I managed to pull those long lines in one go.
Fill seemed to go in ok, but as it's my first tribal I fully expect to need to touch it up!
The guy who I did it on seemed very happy.

personally. I was pleased the lines went in solid, first pass for once and pleased I managed to pull the long ones. but I was a little disappointed in the wobbles and how hard it was to get a consistent fill.
The boss says I shouldn't be so hard on my self it's only my 3rd tattoo on someone, but I want it to be perfect! lol and fek me my hand ached afterwards!

You can rightly be proud of that mate.

All crisp, clear and clean, very well done.

Seen far far worse from 'pros' who've been doing it for years - mates have come out with some right pieces of crap. Keep up the good work, maybe think about getting one of those powerballs/forearm exercisers (waiting for the jokes) so that your hand/arm doesn't cramp up so much?

thanks guys. my boss said he'd have been happy for a paying customer to have walked out with it. I know it definitely could be better though. and I do need to work on my lines and build up more hand strength. going to start doing all my drawing with the machine clipped on to the pen/pencil n hopefully that'll help.

I've got a couple more tribal style things this week so that'll be good fill and line practice which I really need, then on from that I've got some more colourful flowery girly stuff, a Japanese flag, some Egyptian hieroglyphs, a newschool bomb n scroll from a flash I've drawn and also a few designs to draw up for people. So a nice bit of variety realy and cool that I'm getting to do some designing too.

    just a little update.

things are going ok... at least I seem to be getting better.

I've got my own room in the shop now. I'm all fully licensed and over the past 2 weeks we've started charging for my work.. half price at the moment and I have to give the boss some of that. but it's cool.

he's pleased with how I'm coming along too, but says I definitely need to be doing more.

couple of pics.. nothing artistically amazing though.. not yet anyway. keeping things simple for the moment
