    Question Converting iTunes files

I need to export/burn/convert some playlists on my iTunes so that I can give them to a dj who is doing a party. He must have them in mp3 format as that's what his equipment reads.

When I select a playlist and go to burn it to cd (using the MP3 Cd format option) it tells me that some (which is actually the majority) of the files "cannot be burned to an mp3 cd". The reasons are either "iTunes Store files cannot be burned to mp3 format" or "only files that are already in mp3 format can be burned".

it would be much appreciated if anyone can help please? as time is running out to get the music sorted.

Can't you just convert them to m3p from m4a? There's loads of software out there that does it m8, much of it free too.

I use winamp to do all my conversions, but Ive never tried m4a to mp3 and I can't see the bloody settings atm for some odd reason. When I was looking for something similar the other day I happened accross this:

    http://download.cnet.com/Free-Mp3-Wm...-10442362.html

Its free, has no limitations, and at 2.7 million downloads - well, thats a reasonable amount.

EDIT: If you want to see in winamp open the file in the playlist editor, right click and select Send To: and there at the bottom is a "Format Convertor" link (or something like that)

    You could also use replay
play the choons and they are automatically renamed to the correct name of the track and converted into mp3

or gimme a pm with the tracks you want and ill get them for you

Mate that's a great offer but there's about 300 tracks I need. I will have a go with replay myself and let you know how it goes.

K+ for the offer though pal

Replay converter is okay but you have to seek out the tracks one at a time to convert them. It will convert loads in one hit but selecting them is time consuming.

I am going to give this a go tonight: http://www.tuneclone.com/itunes8-m4p-to-mp3.php It calism to be able to do whole playlists directly from iTunes which is exactly what I need.

I will report back on it's effectiveness later.

DBPoweramp is pretty powerful, you can export all of your m4a tracks and batch convert the lot, providing there is no DRM on them.

I think I am correct in saying that all iTunes tracks have DRM on them mate?

Older tracks have DRM but the new iTunes plus don't, they cost more of course. If you want to officially convert them (costs again) then go here http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2009/01...ary-to-itunes/
Most methods seem pretty long winded.
    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

Well I just left the TunesClone to convert a 6.4 hour (73 track) playlist and it's doen it no problem. It even makes iTunes think that you have put in a new blank cd (you do nothing) and carries on merrily converting or "burning" the playlist.

Very impressive, would highly recommend it
