ok so i turned on the acer and .............nothing, just a black screen and a green power light.
after i finished swearing and panicking i had a search around and loads of people have had the same problem and its an easy fix, heres the info i found,
1) insert USB pen into drive on a different lappie or pc
2) download 3309.zip from the Europe (or other server)ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com/netbook/aspire_one_110/bios
3) unzip
4) move the files flashit.exe and 3309.FD to the root (eg e:/ on mine)
5) rename 3309.FD to ZG5IA32.FD
6) removed USB stick from different lappie.
7) my Aspire would not power down so I unplugged the AC and left the lid up to force the battery to drain down
8) when battery drained down, inserted USB stick into one of the USB slots (the one on the left hand side!)
9) plug in the AC
10) hold down Fn+Esc and press the power button until it comes on and starts blinking.
11) release the Fn+esc and power button which is still blinking
12) Press power button once , wait a bit and it becomes steady. (Give it 5 minutes as the man says )
13) When it becomes steady - have more patience - and it will with luck reboot - I think it was a good minute or so before it started rebooting for me.
14) Do the happy dance then back up your stuff!
i did not need to do steps 7 and 8...
2 mins later i am back up and running with no data loss so its worth saving this as it could happen to you.
