I really like Busaba for Thai food, if you don't mind sharing a table with randoms (they have 3 in London)
    Or
Soho Pizzeria is good if you like Jazz and Pizza
    Or
Myungga Korean Restaurant is also nice and you get the option to cook your own food on the table if you chose the bbq thing.
    Or
Gaucho Grill for expensive steak (there are a few in London)
    Or
Rossodisera for Italian food (its a very small place but good food and cheap)
    Or
if she is a cheap date then I love Bodeans for ribs and burgers.

Link for locations of the ones listed and a few other places I have thought about going...

Let us know where you go in the end, and if its good!

Check out the Bombay Brasserie mate, thats some fine indian cuisine, but I'm afraid it's not cheap. You've got Fire & Stone for an upmarket pizza near covent garden if that tickles your fancy

If your looking for something a bit different and you like fish (they do meat to) try the lobsterpot in kennington. Best seafood I've ever had in the UK.

Bumping this thread to get a few more ideas from y'all.

Booked Kai in Mayfair for when we arrive, and have also been recommmended to J Sheekey by a couple of you and also by Kevin Spacey and Philip Schofield on twitter (!) so will prolly book there too. Looking for one more. Avenue is favourite so far, but all suggestions will be looked in to!

    Been here, http://www.roofgardens.virgin.com/en/the_roof_gardens
and it's not too bad, fortunately both times the bill was paid for by my manager.

Also, not too far away is http://www.royalgardenhotel.co.uk/di...restaurant.htm great views. Not a great lover of Chinese food but this one was quite nice, it was a Christmas lunch as a work do last Christmas.

Going to the Oxo tower in 2 weeks hopefully, once again a work do!

lol, wouldn't be able to afford these places otherwise!

Got back tonight. Monday night we went to Kai on South Audley Street in Mayfair. Food was very good, the wine was gorgeous, the "oriental lamb shank with garlic and chicken cream" I ordered for starter wasn't quite what I expected...

    But it tasted nice!

Tuesday night we went to a restaurant in Chinatown called Supreme Dragon or something like that, it was OK, nothing spectacular... but then I do have Britains best chinese takeaway (IMO) on my doorstep

Wednesday we were late getting back from Notting Hill and we had a show to get to so we went Pizza Express in Soho... nuff said.

Thursday night we went to Scotts in Mayfair... on Kevin Spaceys recommendation (from Twitter) and OH MY GOODNESS. You can't top such glorious grub. I had seared scallops for starter, and they were like little gold coins of the ocean, with summer squash and crispy proscuitto. Fuck me they were delicious. I almost had the waiter change my order to have scallops for main as well, but I went with smoked haddock on steamed spinach with poached egg and grain mustard sauce. It was better than any fillet steak I've ever had, and I've had a few! It was absolutely flawless, and obviously can't be recommended highly enough by me, and it will be the first place booked when we return to London next time.

Oh and by the way... If you want to see a bloody good show... Jersey Boys fucking ROCKS!

I managed to get a full refund on the hotel. Last minute cocked up when I asked them to phone the hotel to make the changes the guy should have informed me it was non ammendable but he didn't and he didn't phone me to tell me he hadn't made the changes.

It was only sorted last week, I will never book anything with last minute again arseholes.
