Help 1 day trip to europe help plz

    Hi people,

My wifes never left the country or been on a plane and we have very little money so a proper holiday is out the question,

Someone mentioned to me that you can get empty seats on planes if your at the airport and fly somewhere in europe just for the day prague etc etc, and you can get theses tickets really cheap.

Now being the really nice guy i am, i want to suprise her with a day in europe and a flight .

Thing is i have no idea how i actually do it.

So i turn up at the airport , do i have to go to each indiviudal checkin place to see if there any empty seats or is there a desk where the info is sort of collated for this purpose?

If anyone does or has done this can they give me some pointers.

It will be gatwick i go to.

    thanks
    Adam

I`m pretty sure them days are gone m8.
I fly frequently tp Spain, eastern europe e.tc and i couldnt do that, infact if you wanted to fly say this afternoon it would be cheaper to fly to America .
Best way would be to visit Ryanair and look at their offers, think they have a £8 each way offer on at the moment. To get these prices you have to be totaly flexible and book at least 2 weeks in advance, just look where they are flying to with their offer put in the dates you want and check the flexible on date option. Then just look for the fares that cost £0.00 then you can get a good bargain
Remember that if you want to check a suitcase in its an extra £15 each way plus if you pay with a credit or visa debit its an extra £5 pp each way.
The way to get around these charges is to check the option for hand luggage and online checkin only and to pay with a visa electron card or if you dont have a visa electron card visit www.entropay.com and use their online virtual card that generate electon numbers, not free but a lot cheaper than booking with your bank cards.
You could always try www.skyscanner.net to try and find a cheap flight or for a late cheap holiday www.thomsonauctions.co.uk.
You can always try Thomsonfly as they do sometimes offer cheap flights for the next day.
Hope you find something anyway m8

As dirtyrider says you get some great deals with ryanair and other other no frills airlines.

I've been on a few cheeky trips to places for sometimes as little as 30notes.

Why not push the boat out and take her for a nice weekend away. I once got a flight to Austria and then got the train all through Italy (Rome, Venice) stopping for a day and night at each place and then flight back to UK from Amsterdam!!! The whole trip was about 300 notes. That was using EasyJet for the return flight.

Paris is also a great place to go for the day, and you can do it on the eurostar. You can save the plane experience for a longer trip!
If I'm not back in five minutes... wait longer!
