    Default Music/DJ Software

I am looking to find a program that i can mix music or create songs ...i remember there used to be a basic program years ago that was called dance e-jay, im sure there are better ones out there now, also ideally something that is easy to use/pick up,

For mixing, Look in the usual places for Virtual Dj 5.2
For music creation, you will want Ableton, Acid foundry, Logic, Cubase VST, reason, fruity loops, cakewalk, soundforge....

I always found the lite version of traktor virtual dj to be more 'end user' friendly than the full version. It was also more flexible cos you could use 2 seperate soundcards (I had internal + USB) whereas the full version required a 4 seperate channel single sound card. A while ago now though it may have been addressed

I've used MixMeister Fusion to do some studio mixy stuff. Fairly good, although it can really screw up mp3's of low quality when pitching them.

I use Sony Acid Pro(loop based) to make simple tunes, one offs for dubs if you're playing out or quick remixes.

I used Reason if I have a spare three years to make a choon... (prodigy and propellorheads use this monster...)

I use Cubase if using hardware and want to sync with soft synths and VSTs

I use Fruityloops to make things if I want something relatively simple but powerful, all be the interface being gay.

Oh and Cooledit for wav editing. Soundforge is to bloaty. Or occasionally Audacity.

    Hope that helps!

I still stand by Atomix 2.2 as being the most simple and efficient bit of software to date. I believe my 'not legal' copy must be one of the few remaining, had it for years!
