No kidding you fellas, today has been a fuckin hard day. I've been up since around 8.30am and its now 10.40pm and I've had 2 shakes and 2 soups and nowt else. I've been hungry pretty much all day since aboout 10am. The first 3 days are meant to be a son-of-a-bitch but I feel the worst could be behind me now. I feel tired, hungry and a bit grouchy.

    Remember this thread...
    http://www.digital-forums.com/showth...ng#post2780170
the BMR discussion, it was said I'd be eating 2500 calories a day to maintain my weight, well today I've had 560 calories and thats the maximum i'll get for the next 2 months. The average loss over 8 weeks is 4-5 stone. If that works for me, then its worth every penny, and regarding price, I usually buy our meals from M&S or similar and would normally spend £45-£50 on my meals each week so its not that much more.

Fucking hell, that's really not a lot and sounds not too healthy at all. What's the nutritional info on those shakes and soups and stuff?

Can't you eat a bit more and do some excersise? Not only will it be better for you, but you'll look better at the end of it (more muscle definition and whatnot).

Regardless, I wish you all the best and will be watching this thread with interest.

These packs have been developed from research carried out at Addenbrooke Hospital into food aid packs for disaster zones. The 520 calories is supposed to be the minimum required to keep you alive and nothing more.

More here, it's quite an interesting article:-

I did Cambridge with the wife who is now a councillor in it as well...

I did 4 stone in 4 months and it was easy once you get into it, the hardest part is going out with your mates or partys and stuff like that but at the end of the day it is well worth it for 4 months to get yourself sorted out and feeling fantastic.

Stick with it and you will get into keytosis and feel fantastic, it is a very strange feeling, at the end of the day my wife was knackered even in keytosis but i was buzzing, you should loose about 7lb a week easy she has dieters who are doing 15lb in a week consistently...!!!

The reason that Lighterlife if more expensive is because you have to attend counselling sessions that help you break the habits that made you over weight in the first place.

    Good luck mate

I got inspiration from a guy called Mark i think who had a blog on the web about his progress. He is now a counsellor in the diet as well. He was in one of the first Dragons Den episodes asking for cash for a tummy tuck...... I will try and find it..

not much, I walk to work most days which is a 10 min brisk wal, then I have a wander round town for 20-30 mins at dinner (relaxed pace)

I also have a cross trainer in the garage that I intend to start using soon... they don't don't recommend much exercise in the first week or two as your energy levels dip a bit.

Its a nice cross trainer too... got it off a friendly bloke in Oldham, you might know him

Using a cross trainer worked wonders for me lost 3 stone in around 4 months plus cutting out takeaways and ready meals feel so much better for it, once a stone or so drops off its very addictive to carry on and lose more.

What's the verdict on the first few days then mate?

I'd love to try something like this, but there's no way I can give up the booze, so I wouldn't bother trying. Shame, as losing a few stone would be cool

Not too bad. My third day was the worst. At work. My job can be very boring and also I missed the routine of start at 9, dinner at 12, finish at 5.30 for tea etc...

It is surprisingly easy for most of the day though. I haven't been out with a group of mates or anything yet though so can't say whether the lure of booze will be too much. I doubt it will be.

    Well, end of day 6.

Today and yesterday sucked cock. Big time.

I was fuckin starving, feeling very weak, bloated (farting an awful lot) and tired. Its been a struggle, and I really need a shot in the arm to continue with it. Mondays weigh-in needs to be a significant loss for me, otherwise I'll be considering my options! I don't want to quit, I'm always taking the easy way out... I want to prove I can finish something!!

Stick in there mate - whenever you feel that urge to break, think about the "new you" and how great you're going to feel once you've reached your target.

Stick with it mate...no matter how painful.

    Two options:

    i) you post here, admitting defeat, and get derided

ii) you don't post for a while, then eventually someone finds the thread saying 'you gave up didn't you russy-boy, and derision ensues!

    Continue mate, you're going well.

That's you body's way of telling you that a starvation diet is unhealthy, very unhealthy. Putting your body into ketosis at this level for so long can't be anything but unhealthy and the early weight loss is fluids. Remember that the Atkins does this and though it is pretty much universally thought to be a bad option it at least has a reasonable calorie intake!!
I'm large, fit weight 17.5 stone but managed to carry an extra 2-2.5 stone comfortably when unfit, now I'm 55 I can't carry it so well and am up around 21.5 so need to do something. When I have gotten fit I have simply restricted my diet to the obviously healthy options and reduced portion size, it ain't rocket science.
The only reason diets like this are appealing is that they substitute willpower (and where food is concerned I have little!) for belief in a "magic bullet" which does not exist, it's unhealthy, it has to be? common sense and your own body say so!!

I hope it works for you Russ but I'm really concerned at what you and all of you on this and similar "diets" are doing to yourself!
    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

    keep with it mate,

ive been doing a very low carb diet (no carbs basically) so just eating chicken and having full protein body builder shakes....

first week was a fuckin cunt... ive now lost 3 stone in just under 3 months... im still doing it and feel great for it... after a while mate u get patr of your routine.

the main bonus with doing a high protein diet is is fill u u up sooooooo much.... you may wanna try that if your finding this hard
