Default What is the OS of choice?

After seeing codes "post yer desktop" it seems a fair few people are still packing Windows XP as their main firearm.

Just wondered what the majority here use. Now lets keep this just "personal computer" not work, school whatever.

I'm still using XP as my primary OS and dual booting with Windows 7. I don't think I'll will migrate for a while as only got laptop here so performance is limited.

7 does run great on my wee netbook though, but tbh there ain't anything in 7 that makes me go "WOW!!!".

    7 and OS X as I have a PC & a Mac at home.

Voted for 7 purely because I used the PC last this morning.

I was running Win2k8 with Hypervisor and then running XP, Vista and 7 in virtuals but the lack of USB in the virtuals was a pain in the ass and 2008 really doesn't have too much USB support either.

I found that I always seemed to drop back to the Vista machine so I rebuilt with vista a couple of weeks ago.

When Win 7 is released I'll probably go dual boot for a while and see how I feel.

I would like to say 7 followed by xp, but the reality is that I forget to press the button at just the right time, end up with xp and can't be arsed rebooting.

Before anyone asks, I know how to change to boot order, it's kept that way for when my mum occasionally uses it, and I get bored of waiting for the menu as my pc takes forever to post.

XP as it is too much hassle getting the wife to use anything else and now the children are using it more and more it is easier to have the same OS as school.

i have just gone through the OP systems as they have come out..

still on vista for now as its setup well and i have a few full backups to rely on from the last couple of years, i have tried win 7 and i will slowly migrate to it as the programs i want to use become available for it..

xp and vista have both been good for me and i hope win 7 will be as well.

I have to say I was shocked with the same thing with my mum and vista, but I'm not letting her near anything that's a beta. I'm sure she would find a way to make my pc explode if I let her use 7.

I have always been a massive XP man myself just cos got so used to it and it runs nice and fast.
If it had of had direct x 10 then I would probably still have it now.

Now on Windows 7 64bit and am liking it to be honest.
Doesn't seem too slow and most things work as expected and like how quick it is to install and almost everything works out of the box drivers wise.

The resolutions seem to be a lot better as well on things like icons so when you on super high resolutions you don't have to have tiny icons which is nice as well.

Like Ubuntu as well but you can't play games on that which is annoying.

Only problems I have had are can't get daemon tools to install and a few random issues that I can live with.

LOL! I know that feeling well mate. Pretty much the same for me.

The other reason is some of the drivers still ain't about for my system and as it's not final. I really cannot be arsed to install everything and give it a proper blast. I will deff try out the final version on a dual boot when it lands.

I've upgraded everything to Windows 7 now and barr one or 2 tweaks, everything works on it except for Carbonite online backup and Syncmaster Pro (for which I run a Virtual PC with XP extension and that works spot on).

If SAM would work on 7 id install it tomorrow, but XP pro works fine for me and all SoftWare runs smoothly without fecking about with compat modes etc etc

I'm on XP at home as my PC is too old to run Vista and I can't be botherd with rebuilding windows 7. I'm going to get a new PC once 7 is officially released.

Just built my work PC with Vista Business on Tuesday and i'm thinking about going back to XP. My dual screen graphics card seems to be really struggling despite having the latest drivers.
