This woke me up

Saturday night I put a pouch of baxters soup in the microwave, when I took it out somehow I tipped it over my hand. This photo is the state of my hand on sunday night - out of focus but you can see half of the blisters & the red burnt skin, the other side is almost as bad. All 5 fingers are burnt.

I'm going to get in touch with the makers. I know about taking care with these pouch things but I really think they're best suited to damp products like rice rather than runny stuff like soup. Old folks could really suffer with a wound like this.

Yes I was in a right state but soon came to with that burning sensation, sat on the side of the bath for an hour with my hand in the sink.

Looks nasty, and I hope it heals up quickly for you.
But maybe you will learn a lesson regarding pissed cooking.
I dropped a pan of water onto a AGA hotplate when I was about 19, and AGA's get red hot.
The water turned to steam instantly and took the skin off my hand. I was fucked for weeks, but that was the last time I attempted pissed cooking.
Hardly the manufacturers fault that you chose to 'cook' whilst under the influence.

a little advice from a university student, when pissed

dont cook
dont try and find your own way home
dont eat anything from own place (stop off at the chippy on the way back)
dont walk up stairs
dont try to take a bath or shower
dont think going for a rave in the woods is a good idea

still could be worse you could of tried using the grill

Healing well now & a good tip is to put gauze over a burn (of this kind) & smear plenty of petrolem jelly over the gauze. I've got this gauze on called jelonet & it's doing the trick, here's a link to some: http://www.eurekadirect.co.uk/Jelone...Dressings.aspx (& description: http://www.dressings.org/Dressings/jelonet.html ). It's not too dear but the nurse said dry gauze & vaseline will do in an emergency. Only downside is it can be very greasy when it works its way out of the dry dressing.

I must point out that I would only contact the company to say I think the pouch design isn't ideal for soup - in my opinion it's just too runny to be held in a thin bag when piping hot. I've heated plenty of pouch food & I think perhaps pasta sauce is the runniest product that should be sold in that form. Just my opinion. I'm hardly going to complain to them am I?

Thank goodness no, and more importantly it's not my wiping hand either. Believe me on these tablets you need a wiping hand.
