Help Transferring partition to new hard drive

Ive bought a 1TB hard drive with the idea of copying over my c: partition from my existing drive, i used Norton Partition Magic which copied the partition ok but when i just install the new hard drive it wont boot.

Is it possible to do what im attempting and if so where am i going wrong please?

    Thanx

Have you set the new hard drive as the first boot drive in the bios?

Use CloneZilla to clone the drive, very similar to Norton Ghost but free.
