    Default DVD Writer Problem

I've been having problems with my DVD Writer which is a Optiarc dvd rw AD-7560A (sony I believe). I've been using Philips dvd-r discs and my laptop is an Advent 8212.

I tried using convertxtodvd to burn a movie for the kids but keep getting an error message. Then following advice from another forum I tried using img burn after first of all building the iso file. However even after this about a third of the way in to the burn I get another warning message which I don't understand.

I'm unsure whather it's the discs or my burner. There does not seem to be an update for my burner (last one 21/6/06) and the Techguys don't seem to be much help.

I've attched both error messages from convertxtodvd and imgburn to and hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction.

are you trying to burn at 16x speed? If So I'd half that speed at least.. 90% of my burns are done on 4x.. go in to preferences on convertx and reduce burn speed, imgburn is a simple drop down box to change write speed.

Is it just this file/image or are there others that won't write? If there are no other firmware updates, the cheapest option is to try a different type of disc.

1st try a different image to see if it is the file that is werong.
2nd try a different media to make sure the burner can write.

If these fail, it's pretty safe to say it's your burner that could be going

I have had many problems with my laptop burner all came out with this error. It came down to imcompatible media. Also there is not much in firmware for laptop optiarc drives.. they are generally OEM! I suggest try using another type of media. If that does not work try updating the firmware if you can find any.
