Default Man Utd announce Tevez departure

Manchester United have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is leaving the club.
United were willing to pay the £25.5m to turn the striker's two-year loan move into a permanent five-year deal but Tevez has decided to move on.
"Disappointingly, his advisors informed the club that he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United," read a United statement.
"The club thanks Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future."
    More to follow.

    Bit more on Sky:

Manchester United have confirmed striker Carlos Tevez will not be playing for the club next season following the conclusion of his two-year loan.
The Argentina international was a fans' favourite during his time at Old Trafford, however, he has rejected the chance to sign a long-term deal with The Red Devils.

United had agreed to pay the £25.5million fee required to secure the 25-year-old's services permanently and offered the striker a lucrative five-year contract.
However, despite the prospect of becoming one of the club's highest paid players it has now been revealed that he no longer wished to play for the Premier League champions.

Tevez found regular first-team football especially hard to come by last season following the expensive acquisition of Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham and that has been attributed as one of the reasons behind his decision.
United's city rivals Manchester City are now likely to be the front-runners for the striker, although both Liverpool and Chelsea have both been credited with an interest in his services.
    Contract rejected

"Following contact received from Carlos Tevez's advisors last night, in advance of the deadline the club set for concluding negotiations, Manchester United announces that Carlos will not be signing a new contract with the club," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The club agreed to pay the option price of £25.5m and offered Carlos a five-year contract which would have made him one of its highest paid players.

"Disappointingly however, his advisors informed the club that, despite the success he has enjoyed during one of the Club's most successful periods, he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United.
"The club would like to thank Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future."
Sky Bet make Carlos Tevez 1/10 on (from 1/6) to join Manchester City after champions United on Saturday confirmed the striker is to leave Old Trafford.

Sky Bet's Dave Pilgrim said: "We've been seeing sustained support for Tezez for several weeks at odds-on prices to join Man City, and United's confirmation that he will indeed leave the club just lends further weight to this money.
"We're 1/10 that he joins City now, with Chelsea probably the only other serious contender of the British clubs after he appeared to rule out Liverpool. Chelsea are a 11/2 shot."

it's no surprise but still disappointing. I must admit I'm beginning to get a little worried as that's 2 creative players gone now, and none of the players I would like to see us sign look like coming. It's early days but these are two big, big players now gone and we don't have anything like the strength to cope with this.

It's a big loss, Tevez and Ronaldo rescued United how many times last season. I think he'll go to a European club myself. Still a long way to go until the new season, Fergie will have something up his sleeve

£80 mil for the lady-boy in the bank & they won't stump up that bit extra for Tevez, well done.
Will taggart rue this day come May 10?

I think that clears up the fact that Utd did actually offer the required transfer fee. It is probably because he wanted to be THE highest paid rather than ONE of the highest paid players at the club.

13.34 Kia Joorabchian has told Sky Sports News that Carlos Tevez had to walk away from Manchester United because he was not given enough time to consider their offer.

People have been predicting the end of the United empire for many years. Remember the fuss that occured summer of 95, when Ince, Hughes and Kanchelskis left, and no-one really came in? You'll never win anything with kids said a famous Dipper, and he was proven very wrong, so I wouldn't advise anyone to predict the end quite yet. At the moment yes, I have to admit I look at our team and worry, as I don't see the youngsters we have being the quality of the class of 95, but in Fergie we must trust. If nothing else team spirit will be better this season!

Tevez will probably end up at City.... I can't see Chelsea's being a serious enquiry.

Most transfer deals will be done in July, Man U fans don't need to worry just yet. I can see them getting a couple of decent players. Possibly three.

    You've still got Giggsy eh?

If there's anything to make Tevez look good it will be in the Sky Blue of City!

He'll go where he's almost guaranteed a first team slot, and City would provide him that, Chelsea wouldn't. Good luck to him, I'd rather he went abroad because he's good!

Its a strange one really, As you say at chelsea he is likely to be in the same position as he was at utd, But for the life of me a can't see why he would choose city unless of course he is just another hungry greedy twat, If so your better of without him.

He did want to play for Man Utd. I'm fairly certain the biggest reason he's not staying is cos he got fucked around.

I like Tevez, seems like a down to earth player and I hope he stays in the PL but I really can't imagine where he'll end up
