Windows 7 screen flickering?

I've just installed Windows 7 on my HTPC, and every second or so, the screen flickers from the Windows desktop to a black screen, and nothing I change seems to have any effect on this, i.e. resolution, refresh rates, etc!

I'm connecting via HDMI from an Asus Nforce 730i/9300 motherboard to a Sony HDMI AV amp, passing through to a 50" Samsung plasma.

I didn't have this problem with XP, so any advice would be much appreciated, cheers.

is it a dodgy theme (aero glass not supported)

how old is the gfx card and what is it...

is it directX 10 compatable

does it do it in safe mode.

turn off all effects for windows (icon smothing, shadows etc) in video perfomance

just a few ideas to get you going m8..

It's a M-ATX board with Nvidia's latest onboard GPU, DX10 compatible, so should support all effects, this one - http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...79&modelmenu=2

I'll try it in safe mode and with effects turned off tomorrow, cheers again.

Not yet, only got it installed a couple of hours ago.

It all worked perfectly in XP this morning though, so I'm assuming that it shouldn't be the cable?

I'm gonna plug it in directly to the TV tomorrow too, bypassing the amp, see if that's confusing it.

I uninstalled the Windows 7 Nforce driver, and did a forced manual install of the latest Vista Nforce driver instead, seems to have fixed it, strange!
