1 Day Left On The Beta Version, Anything I Can Do?

I installed the beta version on my laptop when it first became available. The beta finishes tomorrow though and it's telling me to backup all my files and install another Windows. Is there anything I can do stop this? Or will I have to reformat and put another Windows on there?

I think ms are only letting people download rc1 until the end of this month so I would hurry up.

Love the Windows 7 showcase page. M$hite can't even present 3 lines of text right.

I'm impressed with W7 so far. Got it installed on missus machine. She don't even know I've upgraded it from XP. Not sure if that is testament to her daftness or m$ getting this right.

It's available till the end of July, so no major worries there.

) can you then restore back to the latest RC ?

Put RC1 on,or go back to Vista or XP.Thats the joys of a Beta M8
Remember the RC expires next year as well,but i expect retail will be hacked by then.

Stick RC1 on it. It doesn't expire to July 2010...

Cheers guys, grabbed RC1 yesterday. It wouldn't let me install it over the beta so just backing all my files up at the mo then gonna have to format I think. Thanks again

does any one know if my idea to back up with ghost install the RC then restore would work or would it just restore the beta ?

The image you create with Ghost would be the beta so a restore over the release candidate would replace that with the very system that you are looking to be rid of

so is there any program that would back up the setup (apps,email ect) and then restore?

afaik you can do your data like films, music, word docs, etc. but virtually any modern program won't work.

yeah it will be hard for you to extract the apps and the associated files, folders and dll's etc that get stored in the program files and system folders, best bet is too backup your personal stuff and then re-download the apps from their respective website and re-install

Had the same problem, ended up just installing XP.

Microsoft really need to have an updater instead of needing a complete reinstall, its just stupid.
