Which buttons the ones on the radio or the ones on the steering wheel?

My Dad had a problem in his 07 astra where the horn wouldnt work and the steering wheel controls wouldnt work other than pressing the left wheel initiated the trip computer but you couldnt scroll.

We discovered it was only when driveing with the lights on that the problem occured, turn the lights off and no problem.
Bits replaced to fit it were the plate at the back or the airbag and the CID? the CID fixed it. the car went in 5 times to be sorted, it was a pain in the arse each time they would say it will be ok when they had done nothing. when it was fixed the younger guy on service said it was a common fault, SO why the fcuk did it take 4 previouse visits to fix it?

Get it in to a dealership before the waranty runs out, even if they don;t fix it at least you had it in during the warenty so will be fixed under warrenty even when it expires.

Thats a vauxhall recall fault usually on 05 and 55 plate cars, give your main dealer a ring, seen this loads, they have to change a part in the body computer or sometimes even the radio.

I think its the part that interfaces the steering wheel and its controls to the rest of the car. a bit like the gyro on a bmx allows the handle bars to spin but still keeps the brakes connected

This is the colour info display, this is usualy for sat nav. The normal one is the GID which is the graphic info display. Both are the master in the system for the radio and phone kits.

Ah. I had the same fault on my Avensis. Horn, airbag and stereo controls all stopped working. It was the cable that connects the wheel controls to the wiring loom that had snapped. It was just like an IDE ribbon connector that coiled round the steering column.
