trying to install XP on my dell pc...the pc has vista on it, but to be honest i prefer XP
it's not letting me install...i put the disc in but when the menu appears..the install bit isnt highlighted
is this possible?
any help appreciated
cheers
Vista will not let you overwrite it, you need to go into bios and change the boot sequence to cd/dvd first, hdd second, accept and switch the pc off, put the disc in the drive and when you reboot you will be asked to press any key to boot from cd, the drivers will load first, then you will be asked to choose which drive to install windows xp on, warning, this process will destroy all data on the partition you choose.
This is assuming its a bootable disc
Power on Press F12 Pick CD Rom Press then any key and off you go
If its a sata drive you have to disable sata in the Bios.
We Only Need Nine men, we only need nine men.
if you disable sata how are you meant to install to the sata hard drive?
Think you are talking about the Sata operation change from AHCI to ATA(non raid) to allow XP to install if you use the Dell XP oem the driver is slip streamed on to the CD so should not normally be a problem.
