lmao Newcastle Slump To New Low

    Leyton Orient 6 Newcastle 1

NEWCASTLE'S miserable summer slumped to a new low as the managerless Magpies crashed to an incredible defeat at lowly Orient.

The Orient express simply swept a full-strength Toon side away. Sure this was a friendly - but what a battering with the start of Newcastle's Championship season just a fortnight away.
No manager, no new owner, and no hope on the evidence of this hiding in East London. Caretaker boss Chris Hughton faces a baptism of fire in the second tier.
Frail hopes built on a 100 per cent record in pre-season friendlies were smashed as early as the fourth minute when ex-Chelsea man Jimmy Smith headed home from Sean Thornton's free kick.
And ex-Sunderland man Thornton must have enjoyed scoring the second from the spot on 23 minutes.
Joey Barton scored a penalty of his own on the half-hour to give Newcastle hope, but League One Orient grabbed a spectacular third in the 53rd minute with a Scott McGleish overhead kick.
Two minutes later it was all over as Tamika Mkandawire scored the Os' fourth from close range.
Ryan Jarvis made it 5-1 on 83 minutes and Newcastle's collapse was complete three minutes later when Harry Baker's cool finish hit them for six.
Hughton tried to play down talk of a disaster, saying: "This is a loss in a pre-season programme that has gone well so far.
"It's what we expect in a pre-season period. Come August 8, this group of lads will be all right. I'm happy with these players."

This does look bad, but we read only what we want to into friendly results. Remember Man Yoo losing away to Rugby a few years back? Didn't exactly send them minto a chasm of disaster did it?
This only looks so bad because of the size of the defeat.
I don't think this has a ny bearing at all on how the team will perform. I hope not, anyway. I like their supporters even if their chairman is a prick.
    Apathy? can't be arsed.

That was an awesome season and Tranmere ruined it with a draw.

You have to remember we are not a big club we are not expected to win anything, Newcastle are.

No we are not. We are skint, ownerless, mangerless, and clueless. There is a big fanbase, but I am not deluded into thinking we are a big club. We have only won the fairs cup in my lifetime so we are actually less succesful in recent years than W Ham, Portsmouth etc.

I dont know why everybody keeps saying Newcastles expectations are high. No they are not, we dont expect to be top 4 (previous seasons) we dont expect to win the fa cup. We would like to, but so would any other team, its all media hype imo. I dont expect to be straight back into the premiership either, in fact whenever Ive watched em Im surprised we stayed in the premiership as long as we did. The team has been crap since Bobby was sacked with the exception of a handful of games.

You did get in an FA cup final though and come second in the premiership which is still successful even though you didn't actually win anything.

I've no reservations in saying you will come good eventually, you have the fan base to survive and get back among the big boys, probably within the next five years I'd say. I just wish NUFC would have patience and appoint a decent manager rather than what they have done over the last few years.

Spurs beat all and sundry last pre-season, and then look what happened....Pre-season means fuck all. Losing by five goals to the Os does have a special ignominy to it though.
