Shit Think I killed it :(

My Wii has been working fine for years, it had an original wiikey fitted years ago, and I recently (3 months) put the homebrew channel on there.

I just tried to play Wii sports resort, and it asked for an update - I figured it was for the motion plus so I clicked ok - it progressed through, restarted and then all I got was a blank screen. Now that's all I get.

I've tried rebooting, removing disks & SD, leaving the mains out for 5 minutes. Is that it? Time for another one?

    Help!

    Cheers.

    Now Then,
What version of Wiikey firmware you got?

    http://www.wiikey.cn/resources/ - later
    http://www.wiikey.cn/legacy/ - earlier

Don't be too worried just yet!

    Regards

i'd have wrote more but i was 6 pints worse off last night, theres a fix to recover from a bad firmware update where you plug a cube pad in and hold down all 4 directions on the crosskey at the same time as you boot up. you will need to take it apart.

This is a reason to install bootmii. Can you still eject discs?

The Gamecube thing is call SaveMiiFrii if you want to google it.

The controller can switch the console on, but once it's on the controller goes off and won't sync. Discs go in ok, and eject works. I'll dig out a GC pad and try the recovery.

Well, I dismantled my GC controller but haven't had any luck. The screen is still black, nothing appears and still no sounds. Is it possible the wiikey has failed?

Are you plugging the gc controller into the 4th port ?
All 4 buttons have to pressed at the same time and the timing has to be spot on.
So a few trys will be needed once it works you should see your firmware version on the botton right hand corner, as long as its above firware 3.2

I'm definately doing it right - unless I'm not getting the timing right... I've tried holding the d-pad and switching on, pressing both at the same time, switching the wii on and pressing the d-pad when the blue light flashes and about 10 other half second apart combinations.

If anyone wants to have a crack at it, I'll send it to 'em

    Cheers.

I had this problem, and this how I sorted it. I used the GC pad thing, didnt take it apart, just pressed all the 'D' pad down with my thumb pad (you know where it meets your palm) and pressed all 4 shoulder buttons at the same time. Needed to do a couple of times so maybe the timing needs to be spot-on. But anyway it booted to my SD card and I was able to downgrade the FW from there and bingo - back in action. So make sure your SD card is in with FW downgrader on.
    Good luck
