    Help Best options

    Daughters car had mot fri failed on about 70 quid of work, sat timing belt gone engine fked. Do we fit recon engine 600quid?, scrap engine+fitting 250quid +maybe new timing belt, or another car 12 month ticket again about 600 / 700 quid but 1 week warrenty she does about 350 miles a week so needs a car? ideas please ta its a p reg brava

    Is the current MOT still valid or has it expired? If it hasn't run out yet it wouldn't be a bad thing if it got nicked by some neds and burnt out

    If not sell the car on ebay. There's always someone with an engine for it.

    It seems the prices of older cars have gone up quite a bit over the last few month so buying a replacement for £600-700 may not be as easy as you think if your looking for somthing small, big cars yes you can get them reasonably cheap but smaller ones its prety difficult to find anything worth buying as everyone thinks they are worth £2000 when tradeing them in.

    have you tried looking at golfs? Especially the TDI range?

    the fezza will be ok for that but stay away from the punto, they suffer with head gasket trouble after about 70 odd k,
    check the fezza has clean oil in her and no tapping( i take it it has a cvh lump in it), it should go on for ever, watch for rust around rear arches, rear chassis rails and filler neck.
    if thats ok, then shes already been fixed or your luckly lol

    Quick update head coming off tomorrow and if pistons ok then head skim new belt valves 325 quid job done thanks everyone
