Mini SD card wont format

Have a mini sd card (2gb) which wont format. XP reports it as bigger then what it is, and when I use the HP USB format program it reports the correct size but comes back and says the card is lock.

Anybody else have this with a Mini SD, again its a Mini SD card not a micro sd card.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I had a micro one that wouldnt format. In the end i contacted the supplier and he exchanged it. I always buy cards that have a lifetime guarantee like kingston. So your covered for any issues. I have noticed that the cheaper non branded ones go alot. Try formatting it in a phone or something other than a pc, you never know it might do it

Got this by searching similair to what i said:

Try and format the card with one of those cheap china mp4 or mp5 multiplayers, it will force formatting to FAT16 at 8sectors and 4k. This may not be usable on your PC especially if you are running the NTFS file system but it will make it visible enough to be formatted to FAT32, you may need to force formatting to FAT32 at 32 sectors and 16k before your computer or phone will be able to save files to it.
