Elite 360 No Longer Ships With HD Cables

One of the things I appreciated most about my Xbox 360 Elite was that it shipped with an HDMI cable in the box, letting me get the most out of my system's visuals without the need for further expense.

Thing is, I got my Elite years ago. If you plan on picking one up in the future, you won't be so lucky, as several GameStop employees have told us new models of the hardware hitting stores across the US no longer ship with a HDMI cable. In fact, they don't even ship with component cables either, just some SD composite cables, meaning anyone with an HDTV is going to have to pay a little extra. An HD tax, if you will.

You can get a decent enough hdmi cable for a couple of quid if you shop around.

I do feel sorry for the peeps who'll be buying an elite, will get home then will have to pop out again to buy a HD cable. No HDMI cable included, I can kinda understand, but to rid of the component cable too is fucking silly.

To be fair I got my HDMI (for my ps3 when I had the junk) for £3 from Tescos for 2 metres.


Still should be included aswell as the dongle.

Yeah the lack of Wireless is stupid considering the PS3 and Wii (even the DS!!) have it...
Mine is hard wired now as it's more convenient this way..

To top it off, the 360 is getting a £30 price hike later this year!!

Microsoft is to increase the recommended retail price of its Arcade model Xbox 360, according to retail channel reports.
Igor Cipolletta, boss of online games retailer ShopTo, said he was told by Microsoft that the Arcade’s price will jump from £130 to £160 ($262/€186) from 1 September, website Eurogamer reports.
An unnamed independent retail chain source corroborated Cipolletta’s statement, the website added.
The second source also let slip that Microsoft plans to increase the cost of individual Xbox 360 accessories by a couple of quid in order to “counteract the poor Pound-to-Euro currency exchange rate”.
The Arcade is the cheapest model in the Xbox 360 line-up, but it isn’t clear whether price increase will extent to Microsoft’s two other models, the Pro and the Elite.
A £30 increase in the Arcade’s price would bring it in line with the Pro, which currently costs around £150. That adds yet more weight to speculation that Microsoft’s inked plans to can the mid-range machine.

M$ been M$ however will probably have a trick up their sleeve... Once $ony release the 'Slim' PS3 that has been rumoured for a while, M$ will have a new 360 model with WiFi, Blu-ray built in no doubt..... at a premium too.

An HDMI cable would probably only cost MS a quid/dollar, saying that though the PS3 has never had an HDMI cable supplied with it. Both should come with an HDMI lead though as both are HD systems and the majority of people have HD tv's nowadays. Both companies are money grabbing whores though so no point reading into it too much.
