    Default Waiting for a job

Further to my previous thread in here about recruitment agencies.......
I'm still in my current job, still no news on who is going or staying in our department.
The MD has been off for a month and is back next week, so I reckon it'll all kick off then.

Got a call this morning about a job I applied for a month ago, which to be honest I assumed I hadn't got as it had been so long. They want to interview me. Yay me!

Only problem is it's not for at least another two/three weeks as it's with the IT director who works in the Belgian office. God all the waiting is really frustrating!

Problem is I've got some other applications pending but travelling quite a bit further afield. This one is four miles away from my house. I really really want this job but don't wan't risk losing any others by holding out for this one and not getting it.

I suppose if I was offered a job, and this one came along I could jack it in during the usual probationary period. A mate of mine did this at my last place. Was there about 4-5 weeks when he got headhunted by Microsoft for double his salary, lucky beggar!

Not really after any advice, just needed a rant/ramble! Everyone here is playing their cards close to their chest and keeping job talk to themselves, it's almost like they all think we're going to steal each other's jobs!
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon.

I bet its ace working for MS. apparently you can work any hours as long as you do the hours.. say one day you work a 12 hour shift the next fay you could do 2 hours.. and then a 12 hour shift again and so on.. as long as you work you contracted hours

My cousin in law (think that's what he is lol) works for them and he says as long as his work is done for the week he's left alone. He's a home worker and gets a few trips a year to the US as well. Beats travelling to Bristol and back lol

I'd say keep applying for jobs, if you get the job you want just fuck the other job off Working close to home is really good. I'm just over a mile away and I only work 4 days a week. I'd hate to leave here!

To be fair, it would have meant relocating to Reading which with the family was out for me.
Plus he was a new grad, which they were looking for. One of his first projects was Microsoft AntiSpyware, I think he moved into server stuff after that.
