okay, so i've got netstumbler and found an ap that lets say for convenience has no wep encryption. What do I need to configure in my laptop settings (network protocols that is) to enable me to surf on their connection?

If it is not giving you an IP number by DHCP lease - you will need to find the gateway IP so you can surf the net etc...

I have tracked down some Orinoco Gold 11Mbit/s Wireless cards..from wot I have read these are good for war driving but not for wep cracking..due to the non prism2 chipset? they also allow with the use of a "pigtail" to add an external attena?
The I just need to get some software like netstumbler and play about?
