    Default I'm in ruins.

Sorry for not posting stuff for ages but been really busy with weddings and commercial work so little time for any decent personal stuff. My blog is still going strong and can be found by following the link in me sig.
Anyway had a chance to shoot some stuff for myself today and this is it. (have included view on black links as I think they look better that way)

All were taken on my 30d with tokina 12-24mm f/4 handheld. Processed in Lightroom only.
(Just spotted some dust bunny droppings too. Grrrrr, best be getting them sorted beofre this weekends wedding)

    Enjoy.

Great shots wingnut. Particularly like the first one, the clouds are really nice and the isolation of the building is very haunting. Looks like it was taken in the depths of winter.

Just seen on your flickr page that the exposure was 1/160, the cloud pattrern makes it look a lot slower than that.

    very nice.

nice shots, very moody. Like the composition in the first, and the perspective in the second.

I got a liking for the subtle hint of colour in the third.

Any ideas what it was part of originally Matt?

Not so sure about these shots tbh Matt,

    1) I find this the strongest of the set, i like the wide angle aspect, it's lacking a bit in contrast, could really do with a touch of boosting to the sky and silhouette perhaps, but otehrwise, I like the uninterupted feel of the image.

    2) Just doesn't work for me, there's just no interest in the ruin at that angle, and not enough interest elsewhere in the image I feel to carry it off.

    3) Perhaps a silhouette in the archway would have helped, but again, suffers from the same as above, in that there's just no real interest to the image, the ruin hasn't got enough about it to really hold our attention, what it needs is a scantily clad lady next to it

Cheers for the comments guys and fair play on the cc Carl.
Have re edited the shot adding a little more contrast to it. Also added grad filter in lighroom and dropped sky exposure by 2 stops. I know the ruin is not the most exciting but it just had to be shot as it stands on the edge of a cliff surrounded by nothing. Maybe a revisit at dusk with a bag coloured gels and a couples of strobes might liven it up a little!
    Anyway here's the edit's.

Sorry - Paul tried to find some stuff out about but short of asking the guys in the pub below next time i am down I can't find nothing on google at all. I do know that it is an old tower standing on top of Warren Cliffs, Hartland, Devon.

The re-edit of the 1st pic (i.e 2nd re-edit) is a marked improvement now mate, really does add more impact to the shot having more contrast like that in the clouds, nicely done (slarti would be proud of all the contrast boosting going on )
