sick Torture attack: brothers terrorised Edlington

Within three weeks of being moved to the South Yorkshire mining community of Edlington, the brothers behind the brutal torture attack on two boys had already begun to make a name for themselves.

In the estate where they had been living previously in nearby Doncaster, their departure was already a cause of some relief.

The inseparable brothers were members of a large and notorious family which had lived there for about eight years in a run-down semi-detached house.

It stood out because of a wrecked car, abandoned fridge and plastic bottles littering the front garden with remnants of bonfires at the back.

At the front door there was a sign warning: "Beware of the Kids".
People complained of being in constant fear of the family.

Neighbours described an incident shortly after Christmas when a nine year old girl's doll was snatched from her and burnt in the street and another in which an attempt was made to set another girl's hair on fire.

There was also a report of an 11 year old girl having been attacked with a baseball bat.

An Iraqi Kurd neighbour, who works as a Home Office interpreter, spoke of his wife and their three young children being racially and physically attacked by the brothers.
He said that they would knock on the door with the demand: "My Mum says give me some money and she'll pay you back tomorrow."

Although he handed over a few pounds on several occasions, he was only repaid by attacks on his family, home and car, he said.

His wife and three year old son were injured when rocks were thrown at them from close range, windows were smashed and eggs and paint filled balloons were thrown.
Police were called five times in six months and he was told not to contact them every time, but to keep a record. The council was also informed.

His 11-year-old daughter gathered an "Evidence Folder" with diary entries and photographs detailing 17 incidents between Christmas Eve and January alone.
"We wanted to move, but the police and council said they would move them," he said.

"They told me my family would be safe, but they didn't do anything and the boys' behaviour got worse and worse.

"One of the policemen said `What can we do about it? They're children."
People who knew the family suggested that the two boys were effectively left to fend for themselves with a feral lifestyle.

"Every day I saw them they were scruffier," said one teenager.
"Their fingernails were always black. Their shoes were too big for them They used to scavenge trainers and tracky bottoms from skips."

But others said that the pair "never stood a chance" because of their upbringing.
One woman claimed she had pleaded with the local council and police for something to be done. Eventually they were placed in foster care in Edlington but it did not rein in their behaviour.

By the time of the attack on the two boys the elder brother had already been in court on four occasions for acts of violence and was on a supervision order while his brother was on bail charged with burglary.

When their mother was asked about their arrest for the Brick ponds attack, her only remark was: "It's got nowt to do with me - they weren't even in my care."

You know he grew up as a little shitspark from the old shitflint and then he turned into a shitbonfire and driven by the winds of his monumental ignorance he turned into a raging shitfirestorm. If I get to be married to Barb I'll have total control of Sunnyvale and then I can unleash the shitnami tidal wave that will engulf Ricky and extinguish his shitflames forever. And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

Maybe that explains a few things then.
