Well that's good news! Looking forward to messing about with it! Starting off using it with an old Sly dish, and once I'm confident flashing, using it etc, I'll sling an 80cm motorised dish up I think. That should do the job shouldn't it?

i hooked mine up last night, though i have had it for over a month. got mine from dvbkey.
i didn't set it up until last night as it came with a faulty power supply. anyway, managed to get a new one from ebay rather than wait for one to come from hong kong. i was reluctant to set it up over xmas as i didn't want to cock up sky.
i have sky+ with 2 dishes - a sky dish with single lnb and a motorised 90cm one with single lnb and diseqc positioner (from my humax5400 RIP)

As i said, got it hooked up last night - so far so good. it's looped through to sky+ so i can still use that dish on sky for the dual tuner (so i'm a bit hesitant to try and position the dish on another sat at the moment), but i managed to clear what i believe to be the freesat HD channels (bbc, itv, etc)

i'm just telling you this, just to let you know you are not alone in starting out with a dreambox clone.

just need to get it hooked up to the net next

Interesting posts here, I too received mine today and not had time to put up my motorised system as yet.

Plugged it into my Sky dish and looks ok so far but thats all i've done.

Mines up and running great, had a few scares with the images and the dredded wrong flash no CA Found but resolved that with ease.

i'm still pratting about doing factory resets after cocking things up - think i have now established that my positioner is a diseqc rather than a usals. i haven't tried any different images, just stuck with the gp one it shipped with. i need to sort out a c line now, but don't want to go asking for test lines before i'm sure i'm set up correctly. i get the fta channels on 28.8. have you managed to clear the other channels, have you got a c line?

You can't go wrong with these boxes, about 6 months ago I was hex editing the second stage loader and uploading it back to the box, didn't get anyway with bypassing the sim check though but it showed that you can screw up the 2nd stage and still recover using serial.

As for c lines, don't think we can discuss on the open board but PM is fine

just a quick heads up here - everything is working as per an original dm800hd. HD working fine, hdd added to record stuff.
i would highly recommend taking the clone route

what sort of saving is their between a clone and the genuine box? How many different clones are there to choose from?

it's roughly about half the cost for the box it's self.
