Default One of the "Electric Train, Smoke" kinda things

Well, I've had this one for ages - thought you all might like it - good one to use when you're all pissed or otherwise under the influence....

    *---------------------------------------*

3 Blokes go into a resturant for a meal....

They each order their food which comes to £30 in total.

Each of the three blokes coughs up a tenner for the meal, therefor making the 30 quid.

On the way to the cash desk, the waiter bumps into the manager, who explains to the waiter that he is good friends with the three gentlemen at the table - and to give them a fiver off their bill.

On the way back to the table, the waiter thinks "Hang on, I can make a few quid here" and pockets 2 quid. When he gets back to the table, he explains to the gentlemen about the manager and gives them 3 quid back - which they naturally split - meaning they all get 1 pound each back. This means each bloke paid 9 quid for his meal.

Now then, 3 blokes paying 9 quid each for a meal = 27 quid. The waiter has 2 quid in his pocket which makes 29 quid....

    So where's the extra pound?

    *---------------------------------------*

He he, now it can be worked out easily enough and it's not one of those that has an actual answer - it's just one of them things that if you explain it as I just did then - will have people head scracthing for a while he he.

If it's been posted before - then DOH.

    Have fun...

The gentlemen haven't paid nine pounds each for the meal... The waiter removes five pounds and puts two in his pocket.
This means the meal has cost the three men £25 between the three of them - £8 (1/3) each, plus the £2 for the waiter, and NOT £27 between them plus the £2 for the waiter. They all have a pound in their pocket.

So: £25 for the meal, they have three pounds between them in their pocket and the waiter has £2.

    25 + 3 + 2 = 30

If they had paid £27 for the meal, then they must have started with £32, because they each have a pound in their pocket and the waiter also has two pound, which would be:

    27 + 3 + 2 = 32!

    DONE!
